2 It is a great satisfaction for us to announce the VII Meeting of Molecular Oncology which will be held again in Positano. As in the past, this meeting will be organized under the Patrocinium of the Società Italiana di Cancerologia (SIC). Since also the last meeting, held in Positano in 2005, was successful for the number of participants and the scientific level of the presentations, we have not modified the style of the meeting. Therefore, to underline the international character of this meeting and to promote further scientific collaborations between Italian and foreign research groups, we have kept the English language as the official language of the meeting and we have invited several outstanding foreign researchers. We have introduced this year a session dedicated to the Cancer Epigenetics that will, likely, represent the next challenge of the cancer investigations. Moreover, a session will be dedicated to the role of the micrornas in development and cancer: it represents nowadays a subject that is attracting several researchers. Also the studies regarding the isolation and characterization of the cancer susceptibility genes, another important novel and fascinating field of cancer research, will have large space in the meeting. Great attention will be again given to young researchers. In fact, more than twenty posters will be selected for oral presentation and discussed during the general sessions. The meeting is supported by the Fondazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro.

Then, follow the directions Napoli-Salerno - Reggio Calabria; take this motorway and exit at Castellammare di Stabia from where, following the street signs, you will reach Positano; for people who come from the South: take the Autostrada Reggio Calabria Salerno-Napoli and exit at Castellammare di Stabia from where, following the street signs, you will reach Positano. By train: the railroad station we advise you, is the Central Station of Naples or the one of Garibaldi Square (Piazza Garibaldi Station), which is located at a lower level below Naples Central Station. From either of the two stations follow the directions for the Circumvesuviana trains (walking distance). Take Circumvesuviana to the Sorrento Station. From there, take a bus to Positano, which is parked in the square outside the Sorrento Station. By air: for people who arrive at Capodichino Airport: take a taxi or the airport bus to the Circumvesuviana Station and there take the train to Sorrento. By sea: with the metro del mare, a ship that brings you from Naples to the coast. See information at By congress bus: the bus service (offered by the congress) from the Airport and from the Central Station of Naples is planned for the morning of May 14 to get to Positano and for the afternoon of May 17 to get to Naples. For the participants under 30 years the registration fee is 300,00. It entitles you to participate at the congress scientific sessions and receive the congress kit which includes: the abstracts book; coffee-breaks; lunches at Le Agavi Hotel on May 15 and 16 (Tuesday and Wednesday); bus service from Naples Airport or Central Station to Positano and vice versa. Language The official language will be English. Posters Abstracts and posters must be written in English. Posters can be exhibited in the inner hall next to the congress hall on Monday May 14 from 2.00 p.m. Authors are invited to be present at the posters on Tuesday afternoon May 15 from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m. at the terrace of Le Agavi Hotel. In case of rain, the poster exhibition will be held in the congress hall. The poster board dimensions are 90 cm x 90 cm. Abstracts must be sent to the following address: [email protected] The authors are asked to adhere to the following instructions:

6 - the abstract must contain a maximum of 3000 characters; - each abstract should include a title (in capital letters), the names of all the authors, with the initial of the first name followed by the last name (Ex: J. Smith) and institutional affiliation; - the name of the author who will present the paper must be underlined; - the summary must contain the aim of the paper, the methods, the results and the conclusions; - the abbreviations must be put into brackets and, when they appear for the first time in the summary, they must be written in extenso; - the abstract must be typed single-spaced; - type in MS Word. Almost 20 posters will be selected for a short oral presentation (8 minutes). For oral presentation young researchers (under 35 years of age) will be preferred. The participants will be informed about the above mentioned selection within April 15, Each participant is allowed to present only one poster. Hotels The participants who wish to reserve a room must complete the attached hotel booking form and return it to the organizing secretariat. The organizing secretariat does not get any money for hotel reservations and the invoices are directly given by the hotels. Accomodation for young researchers About twenty double bedrooms are available at La Bougainville Hotel and at the La Florida Residence for participants who are younger than 35 years of age. This hotel accommodation service, offers several comfortable and cheap double-rooms. This kind of accommodation is not available for the accompanying persons. Attendance certificate and receipt of payment At the end of the meeting all participants will receive an attendance certificate and the receipt of payment. Excursions From Positano you can get to the following touristic places: by Sea: Capri, Ischia and Procida islands; to West: Sorrento, Pompei, Ercolano, the Vesuvio, Pozzuoli; to East: Amalfi, Ravello, Vietri sul Mare, Salerno, Paestum.
