12 PROJECTS BILLING AND ACCOUNTING SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION IN TBILGAZI JSC TbilGazi is one of the strategic entities of Georgia and its stabile functioning is required for the well-being of its customers. Company needed a solution that could provide stabile and reliable functioning of information system of TbilGazi, and was capable of increasing processing power for a short period of time. UGT appeared to be the only company that could build our billing and accounting system. With their help the system is serving thousands of company customers without fail. After successful implementation of the solution by UGT, Tbilgazi received the following business benefits: Increased information system stability Increased data processing efficiency System working security due to organized and stable administration IMPLEMENTATION OF SAN (STORAGE AREA NETWORK) NATIONAL BANK OF GEORGIA National Bank of Georgia (NBG) is one of the strategic state institutions of the country and it is of an utmost importance to protect the information and data the personell of NBG is working with. Before deployment of SAN the IT of NBG covered local area networks, servers and PCs, and the information was stored only on the server hard drives. National Bank of Georgia required deployment of such technology that would successfully consolidate diverse software environment and effectively allocate the resources. Principle changes in the system were made by UGT through SAN (Storage Area Network) integration. This means transfer of data storage resources from local area networks to faster and more reliable optical network. As a result, implementation of the above mentioned technology highly improved the business processes and increased the productivity. 12

13 PROJECTS DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION IN GEORGIAN CARD After inclusion of ATM and POS terminals in Georgian Card network, standard functioning of the processing center appeared to be insufficient to ensure required productivity and reliability. This reasoned the need to establish a system that would ensure functioning of all components and high speed. As the result of consultations with Georgian Card, and review of several alternatives, experts of UGT concluded the best solution will be N+1 cluster system that would be based on HP, ReHat Linus, Oracle and Veritas products. Established data processing and storage system (SAN Storage Area Network) combined servers and tape drives. When the project was finished: through consolidation of processing resources and storage technologies the system gained sound resistance to hazardous situations the team defined and deployed redundancy policy deployment of innovative technologies was implemented on the basis of modern industrial standards the system is ready for future expansion and changes 13

14 PROJECTS GEORGIAN LOCALIZATION PROJECT MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP GEORGIAN VERSION IMPLEMENTATION On May 1 of 2005, a document was signed by UGT and Microsoft, upon which UGT received the opportunity to start the fist stage of the Windows XP Georgian Version Implementation Project. Specialists of Georgian and English languages, IT Experts and other members of society took part in terminology translation process. In the end of the project, Georgians will have the opportunity to use Georgian Windows XP.
