2 ADVANCED MANAGEMENT THE ART OF LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT 1 Course Outline Overview Leaders of organizations today face many types of challenges. These challenges include the need to design organizations that are capable of coping with rapid change and the greater complexity created by globalization and our increased interconnectedness, the need to understand and shape organizational cultures and to motivate employees, the need to understand and manage politics and conflict between individuals and organizational units, the need to understand and manage diversity, and so on. Such challenges, and how management can deal with them, are the subject of this course. The objective of this course is to help you develop the skills to analyze and address leadership challenges and opportunities. In order to accomplish this goal, we will introduce you to some of the central ideas and frameworks in the field of Management and will help you understand how to apply these ideas and frameworks to analyze managerial and organizational situations. Who Should Attend The course is ideal for those persons seeking a proper grounding in the fundamentals of leadership skills and techniques Team Leaders & Project Managers Middle Managers & Supervisors Senior managers Anyone else who is or will be responsible for managing teams or individuals. Course Outcomes Understand the concept of leadership behaviors Define beyond traditional leadership stereotypes Cement personal understanding Clarify the way communication works The power of changing what you do Leading by example and Getting people committed to projects How individuals make things happen Apply effective decision-making processes and strategic planning. 3 ADVANCED MANAGEMENT THE ART OF LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT 2 Our Approach We recognize that people learn best by doing, and they do a lot in this course. It includes mini-lectures, small- and large-group discussions, games and lots of exercises. It is highly interactive to reinforce what is taught and includes peer editing in a non-threatening environment. Course Content: What is it? What qualities or skills do you need to be a leader? Define the difference between leadership and management. Define the different types of Leader Give and ask for examples of: - Classic leaders -"Bad" leaders - Non-Standard leaders Thought leadership Dealing with how we perceive. Perception idea wand how we see the world. Seeing the bigger picture. How to stop yourself seeing what you think is there and see what actually is there Group work on seeing a current leadership issue from differing points of view How do you know when someone has made an impact? What about you? Where do you make the greatest impact? - How? Where are you most comfortable? Where are you most uncomfortable? - Why? What kind of an impact do you think you're making then? What happens between comfortable and uncomfortable?

Participants can request the instructor to provide a program vocabulary which will ensure they have no problem understanding the content and can be facilitated a little bit by using Arabic language when necessary.
