2 Leaders for an equitable world At SGS we consider inequity to be a driving determinant of social injustice. We regard the unfair distribution of the benefits and burdens of society to be a result of inequitable power relations, and unequal access to political, economic and cultural rights and opportunities. We believe that social justice is necessary to achieve human security essential freedoms, responsibilities and entitlements for survival, livelihood, and dignity in order to achieve a more just and equitable society.

3 Master of Public Health [Global Health] Successive waves of globalization have created a world that is more interconnected than ever before. Nonetheless, global and regional integration has been accompanied by the emergence of complex social issues - such as threats to human rights, rising inequality, and environmental change that transcend traditional disciplinary and professional boundaries. The Thammasat MPH Program was the first of its kind in Asia to focus on global health. The uniqueness of the program is demonstrated by its emphasis on social determinants of health inequities in an increasingly interdependent world and consequently adopting a socio-political perspective in promoting the public s health. A key feature of the MPH [Global Health] program is that it capitalizes on global partnerships, interregional capacity building, and a South-to-South focus in preparing graduates to become tomorrow s change makers. Thammasat s School of Global Studies is a multi-disciplinary environment for students and faculty to collaborate and take a problem-based, holistic, and student-centered approach to issues affecting human security and wellbeing in globalized societies. With professors and students from Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, and the USA, we are a global community where learners connect and become engaged global citizens.

6 Thammasat University & School of Global Studies Thammasat is the second oldest university in Thailand, known for its core values of liberty, justice and democracy. At the forefront of social movement the university offers the perfect scholarly environment for global health which aims to assure conditions in which people can be healthy, by generating organized efforts of society in applying scientific and technical knowledge to promote health, wellbeing and social justice. The School of Global Studies is a relatively new and innovative academic initiative within Thammasat University and a frontrunner in global health and social innovation within Thailand, Southeast Asia and beyond, with a track record of excellent research on determinants of the public s health, student-centered teaching, and academic service relevant to community needs. The School enjoys a unique position of being a national and regional focal point for global studies, human security and wellbeing with collaborative relationships with academic and professional communities. In an increasingly globalized world characterized by profound and rapid change our passion for social justice and equity combined with our expertise in research, teaching, and mentoring change makers is more important than ever.
