1 Village of Huntley Emerald Ash Borer Infested Tree Removal and Replacement Updated April 16, 2014 In the fall of 2013, homeowners that had infested Ash trees in the parkway received notification that as weather permitted the infested Ash tree would be removed. That process began but unfortunately due to the severe weather our community has experienced since November much work in the removal of parkway trees still needs to be completed. If your tree has not yet been removed: Trees in Sun City which were scheduled for removal last fall have be marked with purple spray paint and the infested tree will be cut down and removed. Once all the infested trees have been cut down, Village crews will return and grind out the stump and fill the hole with dirt and the area will be seeded. Be sure that any decorative features around your tree are removed prior to the tree being cut down as the Village will not be responsible for damaged items or other plant material. At the completion of the removal process, residents will receive via U.S. Mail information abou the two replacement programs. Residents that participate in the replacement program will have their new tree planted in the fall. 50/50 Residential Parkway Tree Replacement Programs in 2014 Tree Replacement Program residents will receive a description of the available trees and an order form. Simply fill out the order form, enclose payment and the Village will do the rest. Trees ordered through this program are 2.5 inches in caliper (about feet tall). Please note that there is a limited number of each tree available so orders will be filled on a first come first served basis. The resident cost of the tree is $150 and the following trees will be offered: Swamp White Oak, Deborah Norway Maple, Red Sunset Maple, Accolade Elm, Northern Red Oak, Bald Cypress, American Sweetgum, Exclamation London Planetree, State Street Maple and Skyline Honey Locust. Trees will be planted in May and October. Tree Reimbursement Program residents will receive a form to complete prior to the planting (either on their own or through their landscaper/nursery). After planting, the resident will submit a copy of the paid invoice and Village staff will inspect the tree and process the reimbursement. Residents will be reimbursed 50% of the tree and planting cost up to a maximum of $ A current list of registered landscapers and nurseries may be found on the next page. If you wish to use a landscaper or nursery that is not included on the list, simply have them register with the Village by contacting the Development Services Department at
