(Chapter 5), Katkalo and Medvedev (Chapter 6), Athreye (Chapter 7) and Wang and Shi (Chapter 8) that consider aspects of value-chain configuration and subsidiary management of emerging market multinational enterprises (EMNEs), each building on studies from one of the four major BRIC countries. Profiling/mapping EC&DC MNCs configuration in Europe (Composition of suppliers, retailers, agglomeration in specific European locations, specialisation in market niches) Next steps Abstract submission for Cambridge International Manufacturing Symposium - 19 and 20 September 2013 with potential publication March 2014 STSM proposal for Michal in Cambridge

5 Literature Review Interdisciplinary Review This research project draws on four different academic disciplines strategic management, political economy, international business and operations management Team Members Caner Bakir, Louis Brennan, Jeremy Clegg, and Jag Srai, Purpose: investigate the motives and determinants of emerging countries multinationals corporations (EMNCs) foreign direct investments. Using a comparative analysis approach drawing on alternative research methodologies and theories, informed by sector/country studies. The research follow a multidisciplinary approach, in which a series of separate investigations from different disciplines will be conducted independently followed by an interdisciplinary approach where the gap and overlap analysis between the four streams of literature were identified. The review aims to identify areas for building more integrated approaches across the research hdisciplines i and potential cross-cutting themes for future research Action: Jag to co-ordinate and build an integrated view with different team members (Dublin, June 2013, liaise with Louis Brennan - SM/OM perspective)
