3 Executive Summary On ovember 19 the we hosted a discussion on makerspaces by Tara Tadniecki, Engineering Librarian at the University of evada, Reno s DeLaMare Science & Engineering Library entitled Making & Innovating in Libraries: Thoughts from the Front Lines. The discussion was part of the /LM SCR s monthly webinar series SCR COECTions. Technology Coordinator Emily Hurst resigned her position October 2 to take a reference manager job at another health sciences library. Her last day was December 5. ovember 24, 2014 was Michelle Malizia s last day as the Associate Director of the /LM SCR and member of The Texas Medical Center Library staff. TMC Library Chief Operating Officer, Owen Ellard was appointed interim Associate Director. Consumer Health Coordinator Cheryl Rowan resigned December 15. Her Last day was January 15. TMC Library Liaison Adela Justice was appointed to serve as Consumer Health Coordinator in late December. Adela has the Medical Library Association Consumer Health specialization. Jon Goodell was appointed to Associate Director January 26, His previous role was Head of Information Systems and Library Computing at the TMC Library. On January 28 we submitted our option year 4 budget request. Outreach and Evaluation Coordinator Karen Vargas resigned January 23 to take a position at the /LM Outreach Evaluation Resource Center. Her last day was January 30. Lindsy Frazer, MLIS, MS, PhD, will join us in mid-february as our new Outreach and Evaluation Coordinator.
4 etwork Infrastructure Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) activities Our region funds the LM/AAHSL Leadership Fellows Program as a subcontract using LM /LM contract money. We received the corresponding reports this quarter. Consumer Health Coordinator Cheryl Rowan organized a new School Library Advisory Committee, consisting of K-12 school librarians from each state of the South Central Region. Plans have been made to bring these librarians to Houston for an in-person meeting on February 20, Evidence Based Health Outreach and Evaluation Coordinator Karen Vargas gave an SCR COECtions webinar on the ational Library of Medicine's environmental health resources Assessment and evaluation activities/data In January we began a systematic program review of all activities and services performed since the beginning of the funding cycle. This process is an essential step toward preparation for the funding cycle. Associate Director Jon Goodell holds weekly program review planning meetings with The TMC Library s Planning & Assessment Coordinator Ashlynn Kogut and Chief Operating Officer Owen Ellard as well as /LM SCR staff. We are continuously identifying ways to improve services in support of the /LM mission and those living and working in the South Central Region.

The Texas Medical Center Library continued this year s Outreach Project, Empowering Consumers and Public Librarians , by training and exhibiting. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio continued this year s Outreach Project, Focus on Health Information Literacy: Impact of ACA. Texas A&M University is engaged with their current Outreach Award, Veterinary and One Health Outreach in Central Texas. Promovision Capacity Building Assistance Project is an Electronic Consumer Health Outreach Award with the Alliance for Border Collaboratives in El Paso, TX. Work toward completion of this award continues to be accomplished. TABLE 2. January 13, 2015: Cheryl provided a webinar with Karen Vargas on, ToxWorld: Free Environmental Science Resources for Tribal College Libraries, Tribal Libraries, and American Indian Studies Program, targeted particularly to tribal colleges in the SCR and US as a whole January 30, 2015 February 2, 2015: aomi attended the American Library Midwinter Conference in Chicago, IL Cheryl continues to keep up-to-date and provide information as appropriate to the Region on the Affordable Care Act and the next Open Enrollment Period for the Health Insurance Marketplace which began on ovember 15, 2014 and continues through February 15, As part of this initiative, Cheryl served as host for a webinar provided
8 by CMS on ovember 18th using SCR s Adobe Connect meeting to inform etwork members about recent updates with the ACA and Enrollment Period. Ongoing: aomi contributed twice a month to the Bringing Health Information to the Community (BHIC) blog through December Ongoing: aomi began attending the monthly Web-STOC meetings this quarter. We hosted the ative Voices exhibit from the LM at the Texas Medical Center Library. ative Voices: ative Peoples Concepts of Health and Illness explores the interconnectedness of wellness, illness, and cultural life for ative Americans, Alaska atives, and ative Hawaiians. Visitors will discover how ative concepts of health and illness are closely tied to the concepts of community, spirit, and the land.
