5 Game Design and Development Game Design and Development is a rapidly growing field that produces a wide variety of jobs. The program offers students the ability to explore different facets of the industry, as well as other digital entertainment and educational areas. It covers both Microsoft and Linux operating systems. Upon completion, student may seek various industry certification credentials such as CompTIA s A+, Network +, and/or Linux+. IT 240 Linux Operating System 3 ITNET 160 Computer Repair 4 Office Productivity Specialist This program provides students with the information and skills needed to be marketable and productive in a microcomputer environment. Career opportunities include word processing operator, spreadsheet specialist, technical support coordinator, database programmer, office manager, and office productivity coordinator. 6 Office Specialist This program prepares students to begin a career in an office support position. Topics covered include expert word processing application skills, business document preparation, file management, meeting and travel arrangements, and effective business communication. Object-oriented and event-driven languages, as well as traditional structured languages, are included in this curriculum. Some career opportunities include Visual Basic programmer, C++ programmer, JAVA programmer, object-oriented programmer, and user interface designer. Students will gain experience in operating systems (DOS and Windows), diagnostic tools and integration techniques. Some possible career opportunities include administrative assistant, secretary, office manager, and office productivity coordinator. 7 Web Designer This program develops Web design skills with an emphasis on graphic design and digital media, including animation. Students are offered hands-on experience in database, graphic design and Web programming using popular Web development software. ITAPP 128 Database Applications - Level 1 3 ITPRG 157 Javascript Programming 3 ITWEB 103 Website Design - Level 1 3 ITWEB 225 Web Workshop: Advanced Topics 2 Webmaster The webmaster program is designed for students who wish to become webmasters in small- to medium-sized companies. Students are offered hands-on experience in networking, operating systems, and Web programming. 21 credits IT 240 Linux Operating System 3 ITWEB 103 Website Design - Level credits ABOUT THE CURRICULUM PSC s program prepares students for the rapidly changing world of information technology including computer networking, programming, Web design, and the office environment. With a blend of both practical and theoretical instruction, students gain experience that can be adapted to large or small company situations. INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS PSC has partnered with Microsoft and CompTIA to deliver training that prepares students for industry certification exams. 8 Financial Aid Information PSC s tuition is affordable, and financial aid is available through a variety of sources. How to Apply 1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) The school code for PSC is Apply online at fafsa.gov. 2. Notification from Department of Education If you listed PSC s school code in your FAFSA, the college s Financial Aid Office will receive your report in approximately 14 days. 3. Notification from PSC Once PSC receives your FAFSA from the Department of Education, a letter is mailed to the student indicating needed documents. 4. Complete the PSC financial aid application. 5. Determination Letter Once all documents are completed, an award or ineligible letter is issued. ADMISSIONS PSC offers open admission that encourages diversity and admits all high school graduates or the equivalent. Here s how to start your college career at PSC: Provide a high school diploma or GED. Take the COMPASS Placement Test or submit a copy of ACT scores. Meet with an advisor from Counseling and Advising to select courses.
