UBJCT: Temporary Authorization of ew nstitutions under the Postsecondary Authorization Act ACT RCMMDD: Temporary Authorization BACKGRUD FRMAT: The Commission, under the Postsecondary Authorization Act, has the power and duty to act upon applications for authorization to operate an educational institution in the state. For the institutions listed below, applications have been reviewed, site visits have been performed, and staff has determined that all necessary documentation and bonds have been secured. The Committee on Postsecondary ducational nstitutions met on March 13, 2008 and endorsed staff recommendations for Temporary Authorization of these institutions. A. Drive Train Jackson, T Change of wnership: Drive Train is located at 119.L. Morgan Drive in Jackson, Tennessee. The institution is a Limited Liability Corporation that has been authorized by THC since February, The institution was sold to James D. Williams on January 1, The school will offer one program which is already approved by THC: Tractor Trailer Training 150 contact hours (14 Days) The school does not participate in Title V funding programs. B. nternational Academy of Design & Technology- nline Tampa, FL nternational Academy of Design and Technology- Tampa is located at 5104 isenhower Blvd. in Tampa, FL. The institution is a limited liability corporation that is accredited by the Accrediting Council for ndependent Colleges and chools (ACC). nternational Academy of Design and Technology- Tampa, FL is working in conjunction with nternational Academy of Design and Technology- ashville to offer online general education courses for students working towards an Associate or Bachelor s degree. All recruitment, enrollment, and student 1
2 services will be provided by nternational Academy of Design and Technology - ashville. The institution will offer two programs. 1. The nline General ducation Courses for all Bachelor Degree Programs (on-credential) are designed to provide students with general education courses through MyCampus online delivery. The courses include: nglish Composition, peech, College Mathematics, Psychology, History, thics, Critical Thinking, Political ociology and cience. These courses should provide students with communicative and technical skills for broad-based problem solving and human relations. These courses provide the necessary foundational coursework to complete a Bachelor s degree. nline General ducation Courses for all Bachelor Degree Programs 56 quarter credit hours (15 months) 2. The nline General ducation Courses for all Associate Degree Programs (on-credential) is designed to provide students with general education courses through MyCampus online delivery. The courses include: nglish Composition, College Mathematics, Verbal Communication, xpository Writing, nvironmental cience, Cultural Diversity, and Great Movies Great Books. These courses should provide students with communicative and technical skills for broad-based problem solving and human relations. The in Low Voltage Cabling Technician Program is designed to provide entry-level instruction, skills, and techniques that are necessary to become competent cabling installers. tudents are taught how to conduct site surveys, pull wire and cable, and terminate and test copper cables. The curriculum includes: ndustry rientation, Plans and pecifications, Media and Connectors, Transmission Characteristics, Grounding, Bonding and lectrical Protection, afety, Professionalism, Fire topping, and Cable plicing. The Culinary ssentials Program is designed to prepare students to perform the tasks necessary for the successful utilization of line operation or a baking/pastry bench in a foodservice related industry. The curriculum includes coursework on: food ingredients, commercial kitchen equipment use, professionalism and professional dress, handling techniques, and food safety. Culinary ssentials 98 quarter credit hours (14 months) 2. The Associate of ccupational tudies in Culinary Arts Program is designed to prepare students to perform the tasks necessary for entry-level management in culinary applications for the food service industry. tudents will develop their own culinary techniques through extensive lab exposure for excellence in food production, creativity, marketing, cost analysis, sanitation and nutrition. The in Professional Clinical Massage Therapy Program teaches students the following: proper use and application of basic and neuromuscular therapeutic massage techniques, treatment of soft tissue pain, postural distortions and degenerative process of the body. Additionally, students will learn massage law, anatomy and physiology, proper client communication skills, and clinical evaluation and treatment skills. The CDL Training Program will instruct students on how to drive a tractor trailer which includes: how to operate the air brakes, coupling and uncoupling, pre-trip and post trip inspections, and proper completion of the log. Additionally, students will be properly trained on the paperwork and rules of transporting Hazardous material.
