Responsibilities included conducting and participating in daily rounds on all patients on the unit, presenting patients history and progress in regular multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, and working individually with patients and family to facilitate stabilization, treatment and appropriate discharge plans. Conducted comprehensive psychological assessments for children and adolescents referred for concerns related to cognitive functioning, learning disorders, and other behavioral and emotional difficulties. Participated in weekly diagnostic clinic, multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, and individual and group supervision (4-5 hours weekly). Attended regular didactic seminars on evidence-based treatments for children and adolescents, supervision models, multicultural case conferences, and professional development (e.g. collaborative problem solving, suicide and risk assessment, psychopharmacology, mindfulness-based interventions, eating disorders, family therapy, CBT for OCD, DBT and parenting interventions and strategies). Pediatric Behavioral Health Rotation (January 2014-June 2014) Provided evaluation, short-term treatment, crisis management and consultation with medication providers through the Pediatric Behavioral Health Service at Golisano Children s Hospital and made referrals for long term treatment and/or community resources based on the needs of the child/adolescent and family. Shadowed psychologists, psychiatrists, and physicians for training and exposure to Pediatric specialty clinics including Pulmonary, Adolescent Medicine (i.e. Eating Disorders Unit), and Pediatric Inpatient Consultation/Liaison Service Crisis Intervention Service Rotation (March 2014 June 2014) Worked in conjunction with a crisis case manager to provide clinical services to families in acute crisis through the Crisis Intervention Service at Strong Behavioral Health: Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services. Specific responsibilities included: identifying the immediate client-specific emotional, behavioral, social, and educational needs of the child or adolescent and family, providing brief evidence-based intervention, and facilitating referrals and/or consultation to community resources, primary care physicians and schools if clinically indicated. LUTHERAN MEDICAL CENTER, PROJECT SECOND TRY Pre Doctoral Psychology Extern September 2012-June 2013 Glorious Dunkerley, Ph.D., Supervisor Project Second Try is a grant-funded program that operates through the court system providing treatment for children and adolescents with sexualized behavioral problems (ages 5-17). It is a two-year mandated C. Maliszewski, 2
3 intervention that provides weekly individual and group therapy, psychiatric evaluations, and a comprehensive psychological assessment for each participant. Training and clinical experiences were as follows: Conducted weekly intakes for new referrals to Project Second Try Co-led group therapy once a week following T. Kahn's Pathways treatment manual. Group members were mostly male adolescents (ages 13-17), often had a psychiatric diagnosis and their own trauma histories in addition to the sexualized behavior problems that led them to the clinic. Maintained a caseload of 10 adolescent clients, seen on a weekly basis presenting with a range of developmental, emotional and behavioral needs, typically with significant trauma histories. Maintained communication with the caregivers, parole officers, Child Protective Services and other systems involved when appropriate. Collateral and/or family sessions conducted on a regular basis. Conducted 5 full psychological batteries consisting of cognitive (WISC/WAIS, Bender, Beery), personality (including projective measures), and risk for reoffending measures (J-SOAP-II, Adolescent Cognitions Scale for Juvenile Sexual Offenders, ERASOR). Maintained a caseload of 2 adult clients, seen on a weekly basis, from Lutheran's Sunset Terrace Adult Outpatient Mental Health Center. Received weekly individual and bi-weekly group supervision as well as testing supervision on an as-needed basis. Participated in four hours of didactic training a week including a year-long training in the development, administration, and interpretation of the Tell Me a Story (TEMAS) test conducted by its creator, Dr. Giuseppe Costantino. Training and clinical experiences were as follows: Maintained a caseload of 5 child individual psychotherapy cases, seen on a weekly basis, specifically treating from a CBT framework. Clients ranged from ages 6-10 with various diagnoses to include specific phobias, depressive and anxiety disorders, as well as conduct and/or behavioral problems.
