SLEEPING BAG CARE IPS After each trip, air dry your bag for at least 24 hours before storing. Avoid storing your bag for extended periods of time in its stuff sack. Over time tightly compressed insulation can lose its loft and warmth trapping ability. Hang your bag or store it in its oversized breathable storage bag in a cool, dry space. Dirt affects performance over time. Washing will help restore warmth and breathability so the bag performs like new again. For most people, washing your bag once a year is enough. Front-loading, oversized washers are best try to avoid lower volume home washing machines that can compress and twist the insulation and internal baffling system in your new bag. Close any zippers and wash inside out. Spin twice to remove excess water. Use warm water and we recommend the use of ReviveX Synthetic Fabric Cleaner or ReviveX Down Cleaner by Gear Aid to gently remove dirt and oils that impact performance of the PrimaLoft and Downek insulation in our bags. Regular detergents will leave behind residue that can harm the insulation. Dry cleaning is never recommended. ake care transferring a wet bag from the washer to the dryer; fine fibers and stitching are more susceptible to breakage when wet. For best results, choose an oversized commercial dryer and keep the settings on medium it can take a few hours to dry a bag completely. With a down bag, add a few tennis balls in to encourage the down to regain its loft for maximum warmth and longevity. It may also be helpful to turn the sleeping bag inside out half way through the dry cycle so the foot end dries faster. When completely dried, unzip and allow to air dry overnight. REPAIRING A EAR (HIN I S NO WIH DUC APE) Getting a rip in your awesome new bag can be devastating, but it doesn t have to be. Fix a rip and protect your insulation using the enclosed clear enacious ape patch by Gear Aid. Just clean, peel and stick. You ll have a permanent, nearly invisible repair that won t collect dirt, or leave behind sticky residue like duct tape. Guess what, it ll also patch a leak in your air mattress CENRAL FACORY AVE, SREE, SUIE NASHUA, 400, DOVER, NH NH PHONE/F PHONE/FAX: / ww
SLEEPING PAD CARE IPS After each trip, air dry your sleeping pad for at least 24 hours before storing. Avoid storing your sleeping pad for extended periods of time in its stuff sack, especially if there are open cell foam components. Over time, tightly compressed foam can lose its ability to rebound, and may be permanently compressed or creased. If possible, keep the product stored flat or otherwise, loosely rolled, uncompressed, and away from direct sunlight. Open valves to allow foam pumps to expand. Do not store the sleeping pads inflated. o clean your sleeping pad, wipe down the surface with a wet and/or soapy cloth. Make sure to keep water out of the valves (keep valves closed) if necessary. Do not machine-wash. Do not machine dry your sleeping pad. Be sure to let your sleeping pad fully line-dry before storing in a cool, dry environment. Make sure to dry your sleeping pad away from direct sunlight as exposure to UV is harmful to the fabrics. REPAIRS For patching pads, you can use the included fabric patches. Cut the patch to fully cover the hole and round the edges of the patch to keep them from peeling up. Use an adhesive like McNett Seam Grip to bond the patch to the pad. Follow the adhesive manufacturer s directions for application and curing time CENRAL FACORY AVE, SREE, SUIE NASHUA, 400, DOVER, NH NH PHONE/F PHONE/FAX: / ww
EN CARE IPS After each trip, make sure your tent and all its components are completely dry before storing. his is the most effective way to prevent mold and mildew from forming on your tent. If you are storing your tent for extended periods of time, keep the tent and contents loosely in a breathable storage sack. Store the tent in a cool, dry, and dark area, away from direct exposure to sunlight. If your tent is exposed to dirt, sand, etc., you can wipe it down with a wet cloth. For excessive dirt, remove any airbeams and hand wash the tent with a technical fabric wash like Nikwax ech Wash or McNett ReviveX Synthetic Fabric Cleaner. Do not wash in washing machines with agitators as it can tear the fabric. Hand washing and air drying is best. Do not use bleach, do not iron. It is also important to keep the zippers clean, so if exposed to dirt/sand, wipe the zipper down with a wet cloth. In excessive cases, wash and then treat/lubricate the zippers with McNett Zip Care or a silicone zipper spray (popular in dive shops). For the tent airbeams, wipe down excess dirt with a wet and/or soapy cloth. Make sure to keep water out of the valves (keep valves closed) if necessary. he footprints do not need as much care as they can be exposed to more dirt and are more abrasion resistant compared to the tents. If they must be washed, follow the same steps as above for the tents. Do not machine dry your tent. Be sure to let your tent fully line-dry before storing loosely in a cool, dry environment. Make sure to dry your tent away from direct sunlight as exposure to UV is harmful to the fabrics. REPAIRS If you need to re-treat the outer Durable Water Resistant (DWR) finish, you can use a spray-on product like Nikwax X.Direct Spray or McNett ReviveX Spray-On Water Repellent after the tent has been cleaned. Fix a rip by using a clear enacious ape patch by Gear Aid. Just clean, peel and stick. You ll have a permanent, nearly invisible repair that won t collect dirt, or leave behind sticky residue like duct tape CENRAL FACORY AVE, SREE, SUIE NASHUA, 400, DOVER, NH NH PHONE/F PHONE/FAX: / ww
FILLO / PILLOWOPS CARE IPS After each trip, make sure to air dry your Fillo / Pilllowtop for at least 24 hours before storing to prevent mold/mildew from forming. Avoid storing your Fillo / Pillowtop compressed for extended periods of time in its stuff sack. Over time, tightly compressed foam can lose its ability to rebound. If possible, keep the product stored flat or otherwise, loosely rolled, uncompressed, and away from direct sunlight. Do not store the pillow inflated. MACHINE- When washing the pillow, wash only the microsuede cover. Remove the inner air bladder and memory foam/mesh bag assembly. Untie the elastic cord on the exterior of the cover so that it cannot snag on the washer or dryer. When washing the Pillowtop, wash only the microsuede cover. Remove the sleeping pad(s), and the comfort foam/mesh bag assembly. Front-loading, oversized washers are best. ry to avoid lower volume home washing machines that can compress, twist, or rip the fabrics. Use warm water and choose a regular cycle with no bleach or fabric softener. We recommend the use of ReviveX Synthetic Fabric Cleaner to gently remove dirt and oils. If the foam must be washed, hand wash only. Do not wring dry to preserve the position of the foam within the mesh. Pat dry with an absorbent towel. Make sure to dry the foam away from direct sunlight as exposure to UV is harmful to the fabrics. ake care transferring the wet cover from the washer to the dryer; fine fibers and stitching are more susceptible to breakage when wet. For best results, choose an oversized commerical dryer and tumble dry on low. Alternately, hang until completely dry; turn the cover inside out and hang dry until no moisture is present. Make sure to dry the cover away from direct sunlight as exposure to UV is harmful to the fabrics CENRAL FACORY AVE, SREE, SUIE NASHUA, 400, DOVER, NH NH PHONE/F PHONE/FAX: / ww
EN CARE & REPAIR o Give Your ent a Longer, Happier Life SEAM SEALING YOUR EN Repairing a leak in your ast tent Although most NEMO tents are fully taped and waterproof, two mountaineering tents (enshi and Moki ) are sewn through certain areas for extra strength. hese tents must be seam sealed to be waterproof. Before first use, locate seams on the tent that require Seam Grip. his includes places where stitches cannot be seam taped (all pole wraps, light pocket attachment, and the SA ), and any place where more than two faces of fabric are joined in one seam, like the vent seams. Do not apply seam seal to the zipper. Repairing a leak in your AS tent is as easy as changing your bicycle tube inside the tire. If the leak is small, the bladder may simply be repaired with a small sticker patch placed over the hole. his patch is included in the tent repair kit. If the puncture in the bladder is large, the entire bladder will need to be replaced. Fully deflate airbeam. Cut off tip of Seamseal applicator. Carefully apply Seamseal to required stitching using several thin coats to cover seams. Let dry for 24 hours. Remove bladder through Velcro access panel and find leak. After determining size of leak, patch or replace bladder. Reinstall bladder, making sure not to twist, and close Velcro panels. [ Hint: Pull a spare bladder into place by tying it to the end of the damaged bladder. Or tie cord to the end of the bladder before removing to help get the bladder back into place once repaired. ] [ Hint: Dust with talcum powder before repacking. ] YOUR EN USING A POLE REPAIR SLEEVE When storing your tent, be sure to thoroughly clean and dry the tent to avoid mold and mildew. Store your tent in a cool and dry environment. If a pole breaks when you re out in the field, use the included pole repair sleeve and some duct tape to temporarily fix your pole. he pole sleeve can be wedged into place with a stick if you don t have duct tape on hand. If debris has accumulated in tent, shake it out before packing. Store in a loose breathable bag, in a cool and dry environment. [ Hint: Store your tent in the closet, it is usually cool, dry and keeps it out of reach of harmful UV rays. ] Be careful of sharp and jagged pole ends. Slide the pole sleeve over the damaged pole sections. ape (or wedge) the sleeve in place. [ Hint: If necessary, a tent stake or branch can be used to splint your damaged pole sections. ] CLEANING MOLD OFF YOUR EN REPAIRING SLEEPING PAD LEAKS Mold and mildew not only smell bad, but also damage the waterproof coating on your tent. Prolonged exposure to mildew will cause seamtape to delaminate and make your tent leaky. he best care is preventative: always thoroughly dry out your tent before storing it. Once your tent is damaged by mildew, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to repair it. horns, rocks, and other sharp objects can puncture the airtight fabric of your sleeping pad causing a leak and a rough night s sleep. Drying your tent thoroughly will prevent mold and mildew formation. If the tent has signs of mildew, use McNett MiraZyme and soak the tent following the instructions on the bottle. [ Hint: See NEMO s Blog for a Homeopathic recipe to rid mold from your tent.] If you can t find the leak, place the pad in water and look for bubbles. Clean and dry area of the leak, and cover with Seam Grip to at least 1/4 beyond the hole. Keep the sleeping pad level and let the repaired patch dry for 24 hours. [ Hint: If you are out in the field and need to speed up the cure time, mix in a few drops of water with the Seam Grip. he patch should be fully cured in about 2 hours. ] ww
