18 APICS CPIM Ethic statement To maintain and improve sound business practices and foster high standards of professional conduct To hold in professional confidence any information gained of the business of a fellow member s company, and to refrain from using such information in an unethical manner To seek success without taking unfair advantages or utilizing questionable acts that would compromise one s self-respect To neither engage in nor sanction any exploitation of one s membership, company, or profession To encourage and cooperate in the interchange of knowledge and techniques for the mutual benefit of the profession To be careful with one s criticisms and liberal with one s praise; to build and not to destroy Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of one s position or action, to resolve such doubt according to generally accepted standards of truth, fair dealing, and good taste To maintain high personal standards of moral responsibility, character, and business integrity To uphold the high ideals of the association as outlined in the bylaws

19 APICS Instructor Code of Conduct As an APICS instructor I pledge to: 1) Maintain exemplary standards of professional conduct and excellence in my teaching. 2) Not misrepresent my qualifications, experience or education to APICS or others I serve in a professional capacity. 3) Adhere to ethical parameters as established by APICS including, but not limited to, the CPIM Ethics Statement. 4) Consult with, refer to, and cooperate with APICS and other APICS instructors to the extent needed to best serve the interests of the learner. 5) Respect the fundamental rights and dignity of all learners. I will demonstrate sensitivity to cultural, individual, and role differences, including those due to age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, and socio-economic status. 6) Not engage in behavior that is harassing or demeaning to learners based on factors including, but not limited to, age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, or socio-economic status. 7) Respect and not violate the United States Copyright of all APICS materials, including but not limited to courseware, magazine articles and other APICS publications, APICS conference presentations, and CPIM and CSCP examination resources. In this same spirit, I pledge not to violate the copyright of other organizations and individuals in my capacity as an APICS instructor. 8) Adhere to this Code of Conduct and its application to the instructor's work. Lack of awareness or misunderstanding of an ethical standard is not itself a defense to a charge of unethical conduct. 9) Contact the Ethics Committee when uncertain whether a particular situation or course of action violates the Code of Conduct.
