1 Southwest Texas Junior College Application for Graduation Important: You must meet with a counselor to review your degree plan before completing this application. Reviewed degree plan must be attached. This application must have all questions answered and all blanks completed. PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY. In order to receive your degree and/or certificate, you must be sure you have fulfilled the following minimum requirements in addition to the requirements for each respective program. *All students are required to take New Student Orientation (ORIE 0100); however, the course will not count toward degree requirements. *Formal application for graduation should be made according to the following schedule: May Graduation L Application deadline is February 1. August Graduation L Application deadline is July 15. December Graduation L Application deadline is October 1. *Students who are eligible to attend the May ceremony each year are those who have completed their degree requirements in December of the previous year or will complete their degree requirements in May or August of the current year. When can you expect to receive your diploma or certificate? May graduates will receive their diploma or certificate at the commencement ceremony or in the mail the following week. August graduates will receive their diploma or certificate in the mail by the end of September. December graduates will receive their diploma or certificate in the mail by the end of February.

2 Associate of Arts Degree Requirements: 2. Complete the Core Curriculum (see Core Curriculum Requirements)Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 ) on all college level courses. 3. Complete additional academic course work for a total of 62 semester credit hours including 2 semester credit hours of Kinesiology (KINE) and not including semester credit hours earned in ORIE 0100, COLS 0300 or any developmental course. 4. Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on all college level courses. 7. Must satisfy TSI (Texas Success Initiative) requirements. 8. Must follow catalog requirements of the academic year when student enrolled at SWTJC or current catalog. There is a 10 year limit to the catalog used for graduation. Associate of Science Degree Requirements: 2. Complete the Core Curriculum (see Core Curriculum Requirements). 3. Complete additional academic course work for a total of 62 semester credit hours including 2 semester credit hours of Kinesiology (KINE), 8 semester credit hours of sophomore level lab science, 3 semester credit hours of sophomore level mathematics, and not including semester credit hours earned in ORIE 0100, COLS 0300, or any developmental course. 4. Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on all college level courses. 7. Must satisfy TSI (Texas Success Initiative requirements. 8. Must follow catalog requirements of the academic year when student first enrolled at SWTJC or current catalog. There is a 10 year limit to the catalog limit used for graduation. Associate of Applied Science Degree Requirements: 2. Completion of specific program and course requirements. 3. Computer competencies must be verified by satisfactory completion of ITSC 1301, COSC 1401, or equivalent. 4. Maintenance of a minimum GPA of 2.0 ) on all college level courses. 7. Must satisfy TSI (Texas Success Initiative) requirements. 8. For specific requirements concerning Technical-Vocational Programs see the Technical-Vocational Programs section of the SWTJC Catalog. 9. Must follow catalog requirements of the academic year when student enrolled at SWTJC or current catalog. Certificate Program Requirements: 2. Completion of specific program and course requirements. 3. Maintenance of a minimum GPA of 2.0 ) on all college level courses 4. Earn twenty-five percent of semester credit hours at SWTJC. 5. Make formal application for graduation. 6. For specific requirements see the Technical-Vocational Programs section of the SWTJC catalog. 7. Must follow catalog requirements of the academic year when student enrolled at SWTJC or current catalog. Names should be spelled exactly as desired on diploma beginning with FIRST name.
