3 BRITISH COUNCIL INTERNATIONAL SEMINARS 97036: INVESTIGATING AUTHENTIC MODERN ENGLISH IN THE CLASSROOMS 31 August to 7 September 1997 Liverpool Fee: 1,290 (residential) The programme will discuss the direction of language teaching in the new century, focusing on corpus linguistics and the use of computer software for investigating language. This seminar will be of particular interest to experienced language teachers especially TEFL teachers and academics in ELT. Only the most basic computer literacy is required : NEW AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE TEACHING OF ENGLISH TO YOUNG LEARNERS 7 to 13 September 1997 Warwick Fee: 990 (residential) The seminar aims to update people in the EYL field on the latest theories and practice. The intention is to focus on the age range from 6 to 11 years old. The programme is not intended to provide a basic grounding in EYL methodology, but is aimed at senior practitioners and policy-makers in the field of English as a foreign or second language for children of primary school age.
