2 What is Brivo Directory Agent (BDA)? Brivo Directory Agent (BDA) is a tool that allows you to synchronize User information between your Active Directory structure and your Brivo account. The following functionality is covered in this document: Logging into BDA Adding a User from Active Directory to your Brivo account. Synchronizing an Active Directory User with an existing Brivo User. Stopping the Synchronization of an Active Directory User with a Brivo User. Deleting a User from your Brivo Account For the following functionality, the assistance of your local IT staff will be required. Suspending a User in Brivo through Active Directory Reinstating a User in Brivo through Active Directory Note on Synchronization Once an Active Directory User is paired with a Brivo Access Control User, any edits to the User made directly to the Brivo Access Control User through the Brivo product you have purchased may be over written depending on which fields have been specified for synchronization. To find out which fields have been mapped you will need to contact your IT Staff or the Brivo Representative that installed the system.

3 Logging in to Brivo Directory Agent Note on Logging in to Brivo Directory Agent If you do not know the URL and credentials to log into Brivo Directory Agent, you should seek the assistance of your IT staff or Brivo Representative who installed your system. To gain access to Brivo Directory Agent (BDA), you will need to access the Brivo Directory Agent Login Page. Enter your Username and Password and click the Login button. You are then directed to the BDA User List page.

4 Adding a User from Active Directory to your Brivo Account The first list on the left is the Active Directory Users which can be synchronized with your Brivo Access Control System. The second list is the List of Users currently in your Brivo Access Control Account. The users in your Brivo Access Control account may or may not currently be synchronized with your Active Directory. The list of Synchronized Users is the last list on the Right.

5 If the User you want to Add is not already in your Brivo Access Control User list then select the User from the Active Directory User List and the Add button should become enabled. If you have selected a User from both the Brivo Access Control Users and the Active Directory Users then the Pair button will be enable and you will need to click the Brivo Access Control User again to deselect it. Synchronizing an Active Directory User with an Existing Brivo User To Synchronize an Existing Active Directory User with an Existing Brivo User you will need to select the User from the Active Directory User list first. Once the User is selected from the Active Directory User list you can select them from the Brivo User list and then click the "Pair" button. This will cause the Brivo

6 Access Control User to be updated with all the information that was configured and the User should now appear under in the Paired Users List. Once an Active Directory User is paired with a Brivo Access Control User any edits to the User made directly to the Brivo Access Control User through the Brivo product you are using may be over written depending on which fields have been specified for synchronization. To find out which fields have been mapped, you will need to contact your IT Staff or the Brivo Representative that installed the system. Stopping the Synchronization of an Active Directory User with a Brivo User To stop the synchronization of an Active Directory User select the User you wish to disconnect from the Paired User List and click the "UnPair" button in the center of the Applications Sync screen. This should cause the user to disappear from the Paired User list. At this point you can make changes to the User in Brivo Access Control System and the changes will not be over written by the Brivo Directory Agent Application. Suspending a User in Brivo through Active Directory If you are unaware of how to suspend a User through your Active Directory processes and there is an emergency need to Suspend a Users Brivo Access Control account the following steps should be taken: Unpair the User through the Brivo Directory Agent interface Log directly into your Brivo Access Control Account and suspend the User

7 Reinstating a User in Brivo through Active Directory If you are unaware of how to reinstate a Users through your Active Directory processes and there is an immediate need to Reinstate a Users Brivo Access Control account the following steps can be taken: Unpair the User through the Brivo Directory Agent interface Log directly into your Brivo Access Control Account and reinstate the User Display Fields You may notice that when a User is selected certain information may display below in the Display Fields section. This information is drawn from the Active Directory User profile and is selected by the IT staff or the Brivo Representative during Brivo Directory Agent configuraiton. The information displayed here is used primarily as a method to help differentiate Users, for example those Users with the same name. Note on Display Fields in the Brivo Directory Agent While information from the Active Directory User profile may be displayed in the Display Fields section, unless those fields are mapped to the Brivo system, that information will not be stored in the Brivo system. If you desire that this information be stored in the Brivo system as well, contact your IT staff or the Brivo Representative who installed your system.
