4 ISO 9001:2008 QMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME Certification of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) Offered by SIRIM QAS International since 1987 More than 3089 certificates issued to date Certificates have been issued to organizations in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Korea, Sudan, Australia and Indonesia Accredited by STANDARDS MALAYSIA since 1996 Accredited by UKAS since 1998

5 ISO 9001:2008 QMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME Revision of the ISO 9001:2008 standard has begun. New revised standard expected to be published in Process approach will be maintained but changes likely including: No permitted exclusions Replacement of product by goods and services Removal of explicit reference to preventive action All Management System Standards, including the revision of ISO 9001:2008 will be written with a standardized highlevel structure, identical text, and common terms and core definitions to facilitate implementation of integrated management systems

6 ISO 14001:2004 EMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME Certification of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) Offered by SIRIM QAS International since 1996 More than 643 certificates issued to date Accredited by STANDARDS MALAYSIA since 2002 Accredited by UKAS since 1998

7 ISO 14001:2004 EMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME Revision of ISO 14001:2004 has begun Revised standard expected to be published in 2015 Standard expected to undergo significant changes Revision will include the common high level structure with identical text, as with other Management System Standards.

8 OHSAS OHSMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME Certification of Occupational Health and Safety Management System based on OHSAS 18001:2007 Offered by SIRIM QAS International since 1999 More than 438 certificates issued to date Accredited by STANDARDS MALAYSIA since 2005 Moves initiated recently for the development of an ISO standard for OHSMS based on OHSAS 18001

9 MS 1722 OHSMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME Certification of Occupational Health and Safety Management System based on MS 1722:2011 Offered by SIRIM QAS International since 2005 Accredited by STANDARDS MALAYSIA since 2006 OHSAS is compatible with MS 1722 MS 1722 and OHSAS audits are conducted simultaneously 96 MS 1722 certificates have been issued to date

10 SECTOR BASED QMS CERTIFICATION SCHEMES Sector-based QMS certification scheme: Automotive sector Certification to ISO/TS 16949:2009; ISO/TS 16949:2009 is based on ISO 9001:2008; Required by major US and European automotive manufacturers; now, also required by PROTON & PERODUA; SIRIM QAS Intl. approved to operate scheme by the IATF, the operator of the global ISO/TS scheme; ~100 ISO/TS certificates have been issued to organizations in Malaysia, China, India and Indonesia

11 SECTOR BASED QMS CERTIFICATION SCHEMES Sector-based QMS certification scheme: Medical devices sector ISO Certification to ISO 13485:2003 certification required by many national and regional regulations for medical devices including the newly introduced Malaysian Medical Device Act 2012 ISO 13485:2003 is based mainly on ISO 9001:2000. Excludes requirements relating to customer satisfaction but contains additional requirements to ensure safety and reliability of medical devices. Sector-scheme accredited by UKAS.

12 SECTOR -BASED QMS CERTIFICATION SCHEMES Sector-based QMS certification scheme: Islamic perspective MS 1900 Certification to MS 1900 a unique standard for the application of ISO 9001 based on Islamic principles; Intended for organizations who wish to demonstrate that in addition to meeting ISO 9001 requirements, their practices are Shariah compliant; To date, 22 organizations from various sectors have been certified, with others in the pipeline

13 CERTIFICATION IN THE FOOD SECTOR: HACCP CERTIFICATION SCHEME SIRIM has been offering the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification based on MS 1480 since 2003; MS 1480 is based on FAO / WHO s Codex Alimentarius Commission guidelines on HACCP; Collaboration with Ministry of Health Malaysia allows SIRIM QAS International to carry out HACCP audits on behalf of MOH; Organizations can obtain SIRIM QAS International s and MOH s HACCP certificates based on a single audit; More than 85 HACCP certificates have been issued to date.

14 CERTIFICATION IN THE FOOD SECTOR: ISO FSMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME SIRIM QAS International has been offering certification to ISO 22000:2005 since 2006; ISO specifies requirements for a food safety management system; Applicable where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards in order to provide consistently safe end products; ISO makes it easier for organizations to implement the Codex HACCP system in a harmonized way; It is possible for an organization to obtain certification to ISO and HACCP based on a single audit; More than 42 ISO certificates issued.

15 CERTIFICATION IN THE FOOD SECTOR: GMP CERTIFICATION SIRIM QAS International also offers Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification for the food sector; The GMP Scheme is based on MS 1514, which is the same standard used for evaluating prerequisites as part of the HACCP certification process ; Applicable to organizations which are: required by their customers to be GMP certified, or not ready for full compliance with HACCP requirements

16 CERTIFICATION IN THE FORESTRY SECTOR: FOREST MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION & CHAIN OF CUSTODY CERTIFIATION SIRIM QAS International is a notified certification body under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) operated by the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC). MTCS is a PEFC recognized certification scheme Forest Management Certification is based on Malaysian Criteria and Indicators for Forest Management Certification [Natural Forest]

17 CERTIFICATION IN THE FORESTRY SECTOR: FOREST MANAGEMENT &CHAIN OF CUSTODY CERTIFICATION Chain of custody certification for forest products is based on PEFC ST 2002:2010 Chain of Custody of Forest Based Products Requirements Both these schemes are accredited by STANDARDS MALAYSIA Certification under these schemes demonstrate that the certified forest is sustainably managed and the certified forest-based product is traceable to raw material emanating from certified forests.

18 ISO 27001:2005 ISMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME SIRIM QAS International s Information Security Management System Certification Scheme - offered since 2003 ISMS Certification Scheme accredited by UKAS in 2006 and by STANDARDS MALAYSIA in First CB in South East Asia to be accredited for this scheme Applicable to organizations which are required to demonstrate that they have a system to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information

19 ISO 27001:2005 ISMS CERTIFICATION SCHEME 100 organizations certified to date from wide range of sectors government, manufacturing, telecommunications, airport services, software developers etc.; Malaysian Cabinet decision on 24 Feb Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) to implement and obtain certification from local CBs accredited by STANDARDS MALAYSIA. National Cyber Security Policy: CNIIs to implement measures to ensure delivery of critical services not disrupted by problems to information assets and systems needed to manage, control or deliver such services.

20 ISO/IEC :2011 IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION SCHEME Based on ISO :2011 IT Service Management System ISO/IEC enables an organisation to enhance the quality of its IT services to customers as customers continue to seek increasingly advanced IT support and facilities to meet their own business needs. Conformity to ISO/IEC can be used to: demonstrate the ability to provide IT services that consistently meet customer requirements; ensure a consistent approach by all service providers in a supply chain; benchmark an organization s IT service management.

21 Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO): P&C Certification Scheme Supply Chain Certification Scheme Consumer groups and environmental, ecological and social NGOs have been calling for the boycott of the use of palm oil claiming that the cultivation of oil palm and production of palm oil is not sustainable. RSPO is a multi-stakeholder group which developed : RSPO Principles and Criteria that defines sustainable palm oil production, and RSPO Supply Chain Standard for downstream users of certified sustainable palm oil or its derivatives.

22 Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO): P&C Certification Scheme and Supply Chain Certification Scheme The organization (RSPO) also manages the certification schemes and approves CBs to provide these certification services. SIRIM QAS International was approved by the RSPO Executive Board in March 2008 to provide this service. All leading palm oil producers Felda, Sime Darby, IOI, Wilmar Group have obtained certification for some or all of their production units and related supply bases. Many organizations in the supply chain have implemented the RSPO Supply Chain Standard and obtained certification.

23 United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Scheme Market oriented mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol aimed at a promoting sustainable development and reducing GHG emissions SIRIM QAS International accredited in March 2009 as Designated Operational Entity (DOE) - authorized to undertake the validation and verification of CDM projects `SIRIM QAS International has provided validation and verification services to CDM projects in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, India, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines.
