7 TALENT COACH work2future provides job seekers the assistance of knowledgeable Talent Coaches to help motivated customers navigate and take advantage of the services in our One-Stop centers. Talent coaches are available by appointment (San Jose) or by walk-ins (Campbell, Gilroy and Morgan Hill).
8 TALENT COACH When you meet with a Talent Coach you will be provided with: One-on-one Career Coaching Review of Initial Assessment Scores & Referrals to Skills/Aptitudes Assessments such as WorkKeys & ONET Interest Profiler Development of Individual Employment Plan (IEP), which identifies your background, barriers and goals for employment. Information on basic skill upgrades, In-house and On-line educational resources such as Ed2Go and Metrix Learning Registration ti to available monthly Workshops Occupational Skills Training (based on eligibility) Assistance with Supportive Services (based on eligibility) Referrals to Community Resources or Partners (if needed)
9 TALENT MARKETING AREA (TMA) Once you meet with a Talent Coach, they may provide you with a TMA Privilege Card that will allow you to access: Job Search Computers with Internet Access: (2-hour use limit when customers are waiting) Job Search Equipment: Fax, copier, and telephone access to call employers Current Job Listings: posted by work2future Business Services staff Check each One-Stop for Talent Marketing Area hours of operation. Please read the Talent Marketing Area Code of Conduct for compliance.
10 JOB REFERRALS work2future provides its customers with various types of job referrals: Specialized recruitment t events: Offered to work2future customers meeting employers job qualifications and WorkKeys Assessment levels. Ask a Talent Coach how to qualify for these openings. Job Fairs: Strategically scheduled throughout the year for work2future customers to connect with hiring employers. Alerts: allow work2future customers to learn about current job openings from participating employers. Some postings are eligible for On-The-Job training funds which can make work2future job seekers more competitive.
11 JOB READINESS & COMPUTER TRAINING WORKSHOPS Don t feel you have all the necessary tools to tackle an effective job search? work2future workshops provide you with the knowledge to become an effective job candidate. Sign up with a Talent Coach for available workshops. Some examples are: Identifying Transferable Skills Resume Critique Resume Development Interview Techniques Total Tool Box Resume and Online Application Lab Web 2.0 Networking Build a Career Around your Skills Emotional Intelligence Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Quick Books Business Writing Internet Job Search Pro Career Action Team for Professionals One-on-One Resume Critique (by appointment only and scheduled in San Jose at the front desk) * Not all workshops are located at each One-Stop. 12 Workshop Catalog Our workshop catalog includes workshop descriptions, length of class and bio s from the talented instructors we have here at work2future!
13 Workshop Registration work2future offers a wide variety of job readiness and skill upgrade workshops. Our workshop schedules are released on the 15 th of the month (unless the 15 th falls on a weekend or holiday; in which case it will be released the following business day). You may register for workshops in person with a Talent Coach or online using our ITRAIN website to register. To register online go to: and click on the link titled, Becoming a New Client. From there it is a simple process of creating a client account and selecting the workshops that best meet your training needs!
14 OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING If you are interested in receiving assistance with funding for training, the Talent Coaches will evaluate what requisites you need to meet in order to start the process of attending approved training through work2future. Note: Training funding is not an entitlement, approval is determined on a case by case basis. You will be provided with a Training Checklist Referral that tells you of all the requirements for training according to your specific situation. Ask a Talent Coach about: Labor Market Information Allows you to research the occupation or occupations that have the highest demand in today s job market. Completing workshops or assessments Obtain the National Career Readiness Certificate (through completing WorkKeys Assessment) that indicates the level of knowledge and aptitude for a specific career. Career Exploration and Planning - Research the careers for which h your skills and aptitudes are a great match and plan how to start your new training. work2future Local Training Provider List: Research which institutions offer the training you desire. Note: In order to obtain training funds from work2future, you can only attend training at a school that has a contract with work2future. Customers who do not live in work2future s service delivery areas will not be able to obtain occupational skills training funding from work2future. Those customers will need to request funding from their local one-stop. To locate services in your area, go to:
15 COHORT TRAINING Unlike individual participants in our Occupational Skills Training programs, Cohort Training participants begin and complete their program as a group of work2future customers, rather than as individuals. This creates better opportunities for peer support and networking during the learning process and job searches. These programs are aimed at experienced workers seeking to advance their skills. In order to maximize customer success, interested participants should register for and attend pre-enrollment orientations for the specific program they re interested in. Some available Cohort Trainings are: Financial Accounting and Bookkeeping Project Management Business Administration Human Resources Management Business Analysis Supply Chain, Operations and Logistics Current providers are UC Santa Cruz Extension, San Jose State University College of International and Extended Studies, and the Workforce Institute a Division of the San Jose Evergreen Community College District. 16 CALIFORNIA TRAINING BENEFITS (CTB) INFORMATION The EDD s California Training Benefits (CTB) Program allows eligible (eligibility is on a case-by-case basis) Unemployment Insurance (UI) claimants to receive UI benefits while attending an approved training program, thisis known as a Training Extension (TE) Claim. If you are ready to apply and become qualified to receive Unemployment Insurance (UI) Benefits, notify the Employment Development Department (EDD) that you are interested in training before your 16 th week of unemployment. The CTB program does not cover any educational or training related expenses such as tuition, fees, book, supplies, or transportation. If your training is authorized and verifiable by one of the following state or federal programs, EDD will approve your CTB participation if you meet all other UI criteria: Workforce Investment Act (WIA); Employment Training Panel (ETP); Trade Adjustment Act (TAA), and the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs)

22 To meet work2future eligibility requirements, ALL INDIVIDUALS NEED TO PROVIDE: RIGHT TO WORK DOCUMENTATION Proof of your right to work in the United States (original and unexpired documents), e.g. Drivers License and Social Security card or U.S. Passport, Permanent Resident Card (see Lists of Acceptable Documents from I-9 Guide) You will also need to provide the following items, IF APPLICABLE: SELECTIVE SERVICE STATUS If you are a male born after January 1, 1960, work2future will need to confirm your registration with the U.S. Selective Service. DOCUMENTATION OF YOUR LAST DAY WORKED Letter on company letterhead indicating last day worked or Applicant Statement if notice is unavailable. DOCUMENTATION OF ELIGIBILITY/INELIGIBILITY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS EDD Notice of Unemployment Insurance Award, and U.I. Continued Claim form (check stub) and Unlikely to Return to Previous Occupation statement. Other documentation may be required based on nature of dislocation. VETERAN STATUS If you would like to have a veteran service status, provide documentation from Department of Defense or Veterans Affairs, such as DD-214 or Veterans Administration Letter.
23 Once you are enrolled in work2future you will receive an Access Card or Badge that will be scanned each time you visit us to sign up or attend a workshop, see a Talent Coach, or to keep track of any job search activity. You may use your badge as identification at any of the work2future one-stop centers. If for a period of 90 days you do not utilize any of our services, our program s customer management system may exit you. Then, you will need to start the registration process again. Note: receiving s from work2future g is not considered a job search activity.
24 All work2future clients are provided d with a Code of Conduct that they need to follow in order to provide a welcoming and business-appropriate environment that will be optimal to all of our job seekers and visitors. Non-compliance with these regulations may result in the termination of services for those specific individual(s). id Staff can provide you with a signed copy of your Code of Conduct Agreement if requested.
