2 TABLE OF CONTENTS WELCOME W elcome to the 2014 edition of the Connecticut high school football record book, a collaborative not-for-profit venture, to provide reliable information available about scholastic football in Connecticut and to provide perspective on the achievements of today's athletes, teams and coaches. The record book is always a work in progress. Information comes from current and former sports writers, coaches, team statisticians and submissions from you. Is there an achievement missing from our record book? Has an athlete in your school turned in a notable performance? Do you have a suggestion for us? You can contact the editors at the addresses below. The book includes records of schools that belong, or previously belonged, to the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC). We do recognize varsity games that Connecticut schools play against non-ciac members and out-of-state schools. One of the sources of information is MaxPreps, the official statistician for the CIAC. This project is independent of the CIAC and MaxPreps. The editors consider multiple sources when gathering information or deciding on submissions for the record book. To the extent possible, the record book uses figures compiled in accordance with the statistical manual of the National Federation of State High School Associations, which is derived from the NCAA's manuals that cover compiling statistics for football games. NFL rules for statistics do not apply for high school games. The Connecticut football record book is not a Hall of Fame or a reflection on the lifetime achievements of players or coaches. It is a statistical record of what high school athletes and coaches have accomplished on the field in varsity football games. This record book project was launched in 1997 by the late Bohdan "Bo" Kolinsky, a long-time scholastic sports editor of the Hartford Courant, and Tim Sullivan, then offensive coordinator at Weaver High School in Hartford, and in recent years a Hartford school administrator. The present editors took over after Bo's death in 2003, incorporating their own research and that of the late John Ryan of North Haven, a pioneer historian of Connecticut scholastic football. If you have information that belongs in the record book, please contact the editors: Bob Barton: by at RbrtBarton@aol.com or U.S. mail to 42 Grassy Hill Road, Farmington, CT Gerry desimas Jr.: by at ctwrestling7@yahoo.com or by U.S. mail to 272 Burnham Road, Avon, CT Please include your name and a telephone number or address. Submissions are more likely to be accepted if you provide a source. A recent and successful submission for the longest punt in state history was video footage of a game film posted on YouTube. Enjoy.
