The comprehensive education provided deals with food processing, food laws and regulations, food chemistry, microbiology and food safety and hygiene. The comprehensive package of training provided deals mainly with types of processed foods, their labeling, storage inspection methods in the field, sampling, laboratory analysis and interpretation of analytical results. 23 H I G H E R C O L L E G E S O F T E C H N O L O G Y 147 Bachelor of Social Work Mission: The mission of the Bachelor of Social Work program is to prepare social workers with a sound foundation of knowledge of social work theories, counseling modalities, and social policy knowledge, for application to practice. Graduates will have a strong foundation through the linkage between classroom teaching and the development of practice skills, competence, professional identity and ethics. The essence of social work is working with people, including individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations and communities, and this will span people of any age, from any walk of life, or from any ethnic or racial background. Graduates will be prepared with continued experience to take on leadership roles, and pursue post graduate education. The program will satisfy the mission and goals of the HCT by providing an innovative professional program of the highest quality to UAE nationals. Program Entry Requirements: Foundations entry Admission to the Bachelor of Social Work requires completion of the Higher Diploma Foundations with an IELTS overall 5.0, with no skill less than 4.5. Post-HD entry IELTS Program cumulative GPA 2.5 Direct entry Admission to the Bachelor of Social Work requires an IELTS overall 5.0, with no skill less than 4.5. Year 1 entry Successful completion of Foundations or relevant challenges. Approval of transfer credits from an accredited institution for equivalent achievement. HD Exit Pathway A student can elect or maybe directed to complete the HD Exit pathway at the commencement of Semester 6 of the program. To graduate with a Higher Diploma in Social Work (with or without a major) the student must complete a total of 168 credits and IELTS Academic Module with an overall IELTS band of 5.5 with no skill level below 5.0 Program Regulations: Before progressing to the fourth year of the program, a student must possess an overall IELTS band 6.0 with no skill below 5.0. To graduate with a Bachelor of Social Work the student must complete a total of 220 credits.
