2 Final Exam Guidelines 1. DEGREE LEVEL WORK: Work will be graded according to degree levels. Be certain that all written work reflects the level of competency required for your degree. It is well formatted, logical, clear, precise, etc 2. FORMAT: Typeface: Times New Roman. Font Size: 12 Spacing: Double Margins: 1" 3. PAPER LENGTH: B/M, Master, or Doctorate: 5 10 pages ABS/B, or Bachelor: 3 5 pages ABS: 2-3 pages 4. HEADINGS: The paper should have a header that includes your: Last name, First name, Course # and Name, Name of Assignment (Notes, Reading Notes, Final. etc), and your Degree level. You should use the header function in Word to create the header. Top of Paper Example: Smith, Mary, 602 Personal Deliverance, Final, March 14, SUBMISSION: All work submitted MUST be turned in by attachment and saved with the file name-last name, First name, Course # and Name, Name of Assignment, and your Degree level. Any work that does not comply will be downgraded. If a student s homework is submitted for grading beyond the due date, that appears in the Final Instruction for the Course, it will be downgraded in proportion to the lateness of document(s) submission. If you have any questions regarding this style, you can contact your advisor for information and to see how to properly do it. 8. READING: At the top of your final, include the answer to this question: How much of the book did you read (100%, 90%, 50%, etc)? Just make an honest guess. 9. Weekly notes must be labeled correctly according to the submission guidelines above. 3 Final Distant students only. Local students who attended the seminar do not need to do a final. Part I Write a paper describing the areas Counseling Ethics that need to be carefully considered by you as a Pastor, Christian counselor, minister or leader. Tell how this course has helped you to understand ethics in a better way and what information you have an obligation to pass on to your employees or lay ministry workers and your clients. Part I Second Section Answer these questions: 1. Define each of the following: a. Privacy - b. Confidentiality - c. Terrasoft - 2. What is the key element regarding child abuse that needs to be shared with everyone within your community? 3. What are the biblical qualifications of a Christian Counselor or a Christian person who counsels other people? 4. What are the legal requirements for being a Christian counselor? 5. What types of training should every Christian counselor have (i.e. name the elements needed)? 6. What are the ethical boundaries for a Christian counselor and how can he or she protect themselves? Name some examples. Part II (Fill out this form as if you are the counselor and sign John Doe as a fictitious name for counselee). Statement of Services (This is a brief introduction to what you do. Counselee reads and signs.) I understand that (Counselor s Name) is a licensed minister in the State of (put your state name here) registered with (put in organizations that have licensed you as a minister, such as: SBC Ministers Fellowship, AACC, or the church). The counseling services that you will receive are Bible based and given to help you understand God s method of reconciliation for errors and sins. I will keep your confidentiality, however, this does not cover areas of court reporting that require that I reveal information for the judicial system as required under law. My wife has given me ultimatums because she thinks I am hiding things about how I feel about her, especially in sexual areas. She accuses me of spending too much time with our two kids, but I tell her the time isn t an issue. 2. Brief Life History (A review of your life from youth to today.) I was raised in a single parent home. My mom had a lot of lovers. She was a devout Christian and I made a confession when I was 10 years old. When I was ten one of the deacons of the church violated me, sexually. I tried to be normal all through High School. Then I met and married my wife and blended in. We have two girls: 12 and 10 years old. Today, I feel alienated, afraid and especially confused, and I don t know why. I go to church. 3. Current Conditions (Name current support systems and important pillars in your life.) Right now, I feel alone. I am battling depression. I am a musician. I work at the local High School as a music instructor, part time. In life, I feel like I am hiding and fighting to get out but I can t escape. The strengths of my life are the students at school and youngsters; I draw from their energy. My wife is no help, I feel like she s against me. I don t have good thoughts about her.
4 Part III Finish the interview in conversation form, below, with an imaginary counselee who divulges information that initiates you as a court reporter. End the interview as graciously as possible and then journal the actions you will take. In other words, the counselee divulges information that is a violation of the laws in your state (name the state in which you live) and necessitates that you report it to a local law enforcement agency. (See the Attached fill in interview forms). Counselor: Ok, John, you filled out the form and read the review of Christian Counseling and you understand that I use the Bible to counsel people as a licensed minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
