1 Guidelines - How to apply for a single course When applying for a single course online you need to go through several steps in order to complete the application. 1. In order to apply for a course on antagning.se you need a user account on antagning.se or universityadmissions.se. If you already have an account, proceed to step To create an account, go to universityadmissions.se, Click Log in (or create an account). Follow the instructions. 3. When you have an account, go to antagning.se in order to apply After Sök utbildning på select Kungl. Tekniska högskolan in the drop down menu. In the next drop down menu select the semester you wish to apply for. For summer courses 2013 select sommaren Click Sök. If you are looking for a specific course, write the course code, application code or course title in the green field and click Sök. The course will appear below the green field. 5. Click Välj. 1

2 6. Click Till anmälan. 7. Log on to your account by stating your Swedish social security number or address and your password. Press Logga in 8. Close the window below by clicking Stäng If you have a Swedish social security number continue to step 9. If not, continue to step 11. 2

3 9. Click Skicka and the message below will appear. A B C (A) You are asked to check that the courses in your application are in the right order. If you apply for more than one course, make sure that you order the courses according to your priorities. The course that you are most interested in should be ranked as number one in your application. If you need to change something, click Avbryt. (B) If you intend to apply for a student grant or loan for the courses and want an application form sent to you from CSN, click the box. (C) You need to submit supporting documents to show your eligibility for the course. Mark the first box to state that you will send documents showing completed upper secondary education. Choose the country where your documents have been issued in the drop down menu. Mark the second box to state that you will send transcripts of academic records. Choose the country where your documents have been issued in the drop down menu. Click Skicka and your application will be submitted. 10. Your application has now been submitted and the following message will appear. Click Stäng. 3

4 An with a confirmation of your application will be sent to the address registered to your account at antagning.se. Make sure that you receive this . If not, your application may not have been completed successfully. As soon as you have submitted your online application you must send in your supporting documents to prove that you meet the requirements of the course. See Documentation below. 11. Click Skicka and your application will be submitted. If you have ticked the box stating that you are not required to pay application fee (D), continue to step 12. If you are required to pay application fee, proceed to step Your application has now been submitted and the following message will appear. 4

5 A B (A) You need to prove that you are not required to pay application fee in order for your admissions application to be processed. Send documents stating your citizenship status to University Admissions in Sweden (see full address below under Documentation ). Find out which documents you can provide to show your citizenship status through (B) An with a confirmation of your application will be sent to the address registered to your account at antagning.se. Make sure that you receive this . If not, your application may not have been completed successfully. Click Stäng. 13. You have stated that you should pay application fee. The message below links you to a site with more information about the terms and conditions for application fee payments. This information is also found in appendix 1. Click Stäng. 5

6 14. Your application has now been submitted and the following message will appear. A B (A) You need to pay the application fee in order for your admissions application to be processed. The deadline for summer courses 2013 is 28 th of March Click Betalningar to start your payment. (B) An with a confirmation of your application will be sent to the address registered to your account at antagning.se. Make sure that you receive this . If not, your application may not have been completed successfully. If you click Betalningar, proceed to step 15. Otherwise, click Stäng and proceed to step You are linked to a site where you can start your payment. See below. A B (A) Pay by MasterCard or VISA. (B) There is also a possibility to pay by bank transfer. 6

7 Click villkoren to read the terms and conditions for application fee payments. These are also found in appendix 1 in this document. For details on how to pay your application fee see the following link. Make sure to pay the application fee before the deadline as well as to send all required documents. See Documentation below. 16. Reminder to pay the application fee. A (A) This message informs you that your application will not be processed until you have proven through documents that you are not obliged to pay the application fee or until your payment has been registered. The deadline for paying the application fee is 28 th of March You can click the blue link Till betalningar to pay your application fee. Make sure to pay the application fee before the deadline as well as to send all required documents. See Documentation below. Tuition fees Students with citizenship in countries not within the EU/EEA, or Switzerland, are required to pay application and tuition fees for university studies in Sweden. There are some exceptions to this general rule. Visit the following website to read more about application and tuition fees: For shorter study periods, i.e. those not amounting to a full academic year, the fee is 2417 SEK per ECTS credit. If you are required to pay a tuition fee, you will receive an invoice after you have been admitted to the course. If you have citizenship in a European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) country, or Switzerland, you are not required to pay application or tuition fees. You are, however, required to provide proof of your citizenship in order for your admissions application to be processed. Send documents stating your citizenship status to University Admissions in Sweden (see full address below under Documentation ). 8 Documentation As soon as you have submitted your online application you must send in your supporting documents to prove that you meet the eligibility requirements of the course, and to show your citizenship status. The documents you send in for educational documents should be certified copies, i.e. stamped and signed by an official authority. Please note that only final and officially issued documents are valid. The certification procedure for documents which verify exemption from paying the application fee is different than the process for educational documents, please read more here: Make sure to write your application number or social security number ( personnummer ) on every page you submit. 9 Appendix 1 Terms and Conditions for Application Fee Payments Citizens of countries outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are, with a few exceptions, required to pay an application fee when applying to university studies in Sweden. Regulations regarding who is and is not required to pay an application fee at Swedish universities and university colleges, and the amount of the fee, can be found in Förordning (2010:543) om anmälningsavgift och studieavgift vid universitet och högskolor" (Regulation 2010:543 regarding application fee and tuition fee at universities and university colleges). Verket för högskoleservice (The Swedish Agency for Higher Education Services) is the government agency responsible for the application fee process. Verket för högskoleservice (VHS) receives application fee payments and makes the determination, in conjunction with Migrationsverket (The Swedish Migration Board) and/or Skatteverket (The Swedish Tax Authority), regarding whether an applicant is required to pay an application fee or is exempt from application fee payment. This determination is made according to Regulation 2010:543. Information regarding who is required to pay an application fee can be found on antagning.se and universityadmissions.se. Application fee The application fee is 900 SEK (Swedish Kronor) per semester for an admissions application submitted at antagning.se or universityadmissions.se. The application fee covers all courses, programmes and admissions rounds that the applicant applies to in any one semester at those websites. The application fee must be transferred to the bank account indicated on antagning.se and universityadmissions.se. The application fee is an administrative fee and is non-refundable. If an applicant who is not required to pay an application fee submits the application fee in error, VHS will not provide the applicant with a refund. Application fee payment deadline Information regarding the application fee deadline can be found on antagning.se and universityadmissions.se. It is the applicant s responsibility to ensure that VHS has received the application fee payment of 900 SEK by the payment deadline indicated on antagning.se or universityadmissions.se for that specific semester. VHS will not begin processing an application until the application fee has been received in full. It is the applicant s responsibility to ensure that the funds for the application fee payment are received by VHS by the payment deadline. If VHS does not receive the application fee payment by the payment deadline, the application will be considered late. Any application fee payments received after the application fee deadline will result in the application receipt date being changed from when the application was received by VHS, to the date the late application fee was received. This will result in a change in the status of the application to late". Late applications are processed at the discretion of each university. Payment methods Payments can be made by electronic transfer of funds to VHS using a credit card online, or by the transfer of funds to VHS via a bank. Credit card payments Applicants are provided with a link to the online payment service directly after the submission of the application, and on their account at antagning.se and universityadmissions.se. Acceptable credit cards are a VISA or Mastercard. Applicants will receive a message on antagning.se or universityadmissionse.se after their attempt at making an electronic payment using their credit card. This message will provide information regarding the success or failure of their transaction. It is up to the applicant to take any necessary steps to correct any errors that occur during the electronic payment process. Payment via a bank Applicants may choose which bank they wish to transfer funds from if they wish to pay their application fee using 9

10 this method. In order for the application fee payment to be correctly matched to the applicant, he/she must provide their bank with their reference number. It is the applicant s responsibility to provide all the necessary information to their bank and to ensure that the reference number is included when the funds are transferred from their bank to VHS account. The applicant must also provide the bank with the correct information regarding which account the funds should be transferred to. This information can be found on antagning.se and universityadmissions.se. If the application fee payment arrives at VHS via the applicant s chosen bank without the required information, VHS will be unable to match the payment with the individual applicant and will not credit the applicant for the application fee payment. The application fee payment will not be returned to the applicant. If the applicant does not make arrangements to pay the application fee correctly so that the fee arrives at VHS by the application fee deadline, the applicant s admission application will be considered late. Currency and bank fees It is the applicant s responsibility to pay for any bank transaction fees that are charged in order to complete the transaction, both at the bank they select to use to transfer the funds, and at the receiving bank in Sweden. The applicant can transfer funds in other currencies than Swedish Kronor, such as Euros or American Dollars. It is the applicant s responsibility to ensure that the amount of the payment that arrives in Sweden, after fees have been deducted and the currency has been converted to Swedish Kronor, is 900 SEK. Fraudulent payments VHS reserves the right to stop processing an application or revoke an offer of admission if it is discovered that the application fee was paid on a fraudulent basis. 10
