4 Program Design Executive style program emphasizing reading, seminars, guest speakers, and student projects. Three courses totaling 9 credits taken over three quarters (current series started January 2012) Each course meets for three days once a month (Thursday-Saturday) for two months Course design, curriculum, and sequence will evolve as we gain experience

6 Admission Requirements Bachelors degree or above required for graduate credit (upper management experience preferred) Experience in school business management Non-credit option available for students not holding a bachelor s degree
7 Program Scheduling Program first launched January 2012 First series runs from January 2012 through October 2012 Future series of the program will be scheduled beginning in January 2013 if student interest and enrollment is sufficient

12 Course #2- March-April 2012 Fiscal Leadership and Resource Management Question: How does the CFO and business staff support the educational mission of the school district? Question: How do we judge or measure our success? Reading assignment: Reinventing the CFO by Jeremy Hope How Financial Managers can transform their roles and add greater value
13 Course #2- Assignment Develop performance measures for one of ten school business functions identifying four levels: Undeveloped, Basic/Developing, Proficient, & Advanced, and present to class. EXAMPLE: Aligning Resources-Budget Development 1 - Undeveloped 2 - Basic/Developing 3 - Proficient 4 Advanced Budget decisions are driven by position power and lobbying (squeaky wheel). District priorities are considered in evaluating budget proposals. District leadership adopts budget parameters and priorities to guide budget development. The district s strategic initiatives, goals, and objectives guide budgeting decisions. The budget timing meets the state F-195 deadline. Annual schedule matters only to the Business Office. Annual budget schedule is communicated early to involve stake-holders. The budget schedule is part of an on-going, integrated multi-year planning process.
