1 Quick Start Guide Wireless Position Monitor 4310/4320 Wireless Position Monitor This document is intended to guide you through initial set up of the 4310/4320 wireless position monitor. 2 Wireless Position Monitor Quick Start Guide Power Module Installation The power module, along with eight screws (four large/four small), is shipped separately from the 4310 and The four large screws have a metal contact point on the circuit board and are installed as shown in figure 1. The four small screws go to the right of the large screws. Figure 1. Default configuration for the 4310/4320 wireless power module is with a standard life power module; if you ordered the extended life power module you will need to make configuration changes (refer to page 8). 3 Quick Start Guide Wireless Position Monitor Configuring the wireless position monitor with the Field Communicator You may wish to configure the 4310/4320 before mounting it onto the actuator, then calibrate in the field using the local user interface. This section contains information on using the 475/375 Field Communicator to configure the wireless position monitor. The Field Communicator or AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager (as shown in figure 3) can also be used to make changes to other information, including: TAG name for the wireless position monitor Trip point(s) for open/closed indication Burst period / update rate Power module type Network ID & Join key Figure 3. Accessing Manual Setup Using AMS Device Manager SELECT CONFIGURE > MANUAL SETUP TO CONFIGURE THE WIRELESS POSITION MONITOR USING AMS DEVICE MANAGER 1. Connect the HART leads of the Field Communicator to the power module HART connections (figure 1). Field Communicator HART leads do not have polarity. 2. Refer to Configuration with the Field Communicator on page 4 for 4310/4320 configuration information. 3. When configuration is complete, remove the HART leads from the wireless position monitor. 4. Close the instrument cover and tighten the two (2) cover screws. 3

4 Wireless Position Monitor Quick Start Guide Configuration with the Field Communicator 1. Power up the Field Communicator and wait for the main menu screen to appear. 2. At the main menu, select HART Application > Online > Configure > Manual Setup (refer to figure 4). Confirm that the Field Communicator is talking to the instrument. The instrument type and default HART tag is shown at the top left hand corner of the Field Communicator screen. Figure 4. 5 Quick Start Guide Wireless Position Monitor HART Tag Configuration 1. Select Device Identification from the Manual Setup menu (figure 5). 2. Select HART tag to change. Enter the new HART tag information and select ENTER. If the HART Tag is not specified by the customer, change the HART Tag to the unit serial number. 3. Repeat step 2 to change the HART Long Tag, Descriptor, or Message, as required. 4. Press SEND to save the new HART Tag. * indicates that the HART Tag has been entered, but not saved. Figure 5. Select Wireless > Join Device to Network (figure 6). 2. Select OK when the screen Bursting to the gateway has been disabled.... appears. 3. Select OK when the screen Warning: When changing the network ID or Join Key... appears, 4. Enter the Network ID and Join Key of the network that the wireless position monitor will be communicating with. The Network ID and Join Key can be obtained from the administrator of the smart wireless gateway that is being joined. 5. Select Accept new join key and Network ID > ENTER. Re enter join key and network ID if amendments are necessary. 5

Warning: When changing the Network ID or Join Key, wireless communications with the device may be lost. Any pending changes that have not been sent to the device may be lost. Select OK and wait for completion of bandwidth allocation. Select OK when complete. Figure 7. It is possible to set the Update period. 8 Wireless Position Monitor Quick Start Guide Power Module Configuration Power module configuration is only required when using the extended life power module. The default setting from the factory is for a standard life power module. This configuration is required to provide more accurate power module lifetime estimates. 1. Select Power Information > Power Module Type and select Extended Life as shown in figure 8. Figure 8. 9 Quick Start Guide Wireless Position Monitor Physical Installation Mount the 4310/4320 wireless position monitor using the appropriate mounting bracket. Follow the assembly drawing that is shipped with the mounting kit. Once mounted, the antenna should be positioned vertically, as shown in figure 9. Figure 9. 10 Wireless Position Monitor Quick Start Guide Calibrating the 4310/4320 Calibrate the 4310/4320 wireless position monitor after the actuator/valve assembly has been calibrated to its required span. Mount the wireless position monitor onto the actuator per the appropriate instruction manual. Figure 10. 11 Quick Start Guide Wireless Position Monitor Verifying Calibration There are two methods used to verify calibration of the 4310/4320; the Local User Interface or the 1420 Gateway. Verifying 4310/4320 calibration with the Local User Interface. To verify the calibration of the 4310/4320, stroke the actuator/valve assembly and hold it at the required position (open or closed). To perform a quick position check push the left button when the wireless position monitor is in Sleep mode and verify the position (refer to figure 11). Stroke the actuator/valve assembly to the opposite position and push the left button to verify that position. Figure 11. Push Left Button to Show Quick Position of Valve Sleep Mode left 100% OF SPAN OPEN 0% OF SPAN CLOSED Verifying 4310/4320 calibration with the 1420 Gateway Ensure that the 4310/4320 is Online and communicating with the gateway. A green dot indicates that the instrument is online (figure 12). Stroke and hold the position to the desired position and wait for the data to appear on the Internet browser. If the 4310/4320 PV does not appear on the browser change the instrument burst period. 11

12 Wireless Position Monitor Quick Start Guide Depending on the burst rate, the data may take up to 60 seconds to appear. The default value of burst period is set to 60 seconds. In order to have a faster update rate on AMS Device Manager change the burst period (4, 8, seconds). Faster update rates will have an impact on power module life. Burst Rate can be changed with the Field Communicator (Manual Setup) or with AMS Device Manager. Figure 12.
