6 A-G College Preparatory Pattern a) U.S. History or U.S. History and Government, and Social Science b) English c) Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra ll) d) Science with Lab (Two from the following: Biology, Chemistry, Physics) e) Language other than English (two years of same language) f) Visual and Performing Arts (A single yearlong approved course) g) Electives 2 years 4 years 3 years 2 years 2 years 1 year 1 year Comprehensive a-g pattern of college preparatory study - 15 Units/years

7 Grade Point Average The high school GPA is based upon grades earned in all approved college preparatory courses taken in the 10 th, 11 th and 12 th grade. Initial decision can be made on 10 th and 11 th grades. Final decision will include 12 th grade courses. CSU will award honors points in the GPA calculation for up to 8 semester courses taken in 11 th and 12 th grade. No honors points are awarded for grades of D and F.

9 College Entrance Tests & Scores The CSU accepts the SAT I Reasoning Test or ACT. CSU Mentor SAT school code. CSU only looks at Critical Reading and Math portion of SAT I Reasoning Test. If multiple score reports, the highest score earned in each single sub score of the examination is used. Example: 1st time: 500 M CR= nd time: 550 M CR= 1100 CSU total = 550 M CR= 1150

11 Transfer Pathway Upper Division Transfer Complete at least 60 semester/90 quarter transferable college units Complete General Education Courses: CSU General Education Breadth Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) As part of GE, complete Golden 4 subjects with C : Oral Communication (Speech) Written Communication (College-level English writing) Critical Thinking Quantitative Reasoning (College-level Math)

Complete additional lower division prerequisite courses for the major Minimum 2.0 transferable college GPA (or 2.4 GPA for non-ca residents) Apply for desired entry term before filing deadline Enter CSU as a junior. IMPACTED programs/campuses also meet supplemental admission criteria (e.g., higher GPA)

13 Early Assessment Program (EAP) The Early Assessment Program (EAP) measures your English and math skills at the end of your junior year to let you know in advance if you are ready for college level work. Take the EAP section of the California Standards Test (CST) in your junior year. It will save you time and money! For more information, visit

20 Senior Tips: Find a campus that best fits you visit! Apply early. Go to a Financial Aid Workshop with your parents/ Submit AP/IB test scores to all desired campuses. Remember that when you are admitted it is provisional (you have to complete your last semester of high school and still meet the admissions requirements!).
