Transforming Lives
About Parramatta Mission Provides services to people who are homeless, facing crisis and living with mental illness. Part of the Uniting Church with origins dating back to 1821 with the opening of the first Wesleyan Methodist chapel on the current Parramatta head office site. Expansive community programs of today were borne out of the early Wesleyan s ethos of outreach, community and inclusiveness. Funding: 64% government, 31% commercial operations, 5% fundraising. Vision: a community where all people are included, valued and enabled. Mission: to transform lives and grow stronger communities.
Just some of our 70+ programs... PLUS... Food Recovery Services, Hope Hostel, Kelly s Cottages, Leigh Transitional Rehab, Residential Induction Unit, Men s Transitional Housing, Irene Luth, Personal Helpers & Mentors, Parramatta Leisure Club, etc...
Parramatta Mission s Services Services focused on: people facing crisis, people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and people living with mental illness. One of the largest providers of community mental health services in NSW. A significant provider of services to people who are homeless and facing crisis in Western Sydney. 250 staff / 400 volunteers. 70+ programs delivered from over 80 sites.
Community Services Men s Services (Hope Hostel + Leigh Transitional Rehabilitation Service) Youth Services (Parrahouse + Koompartoo Merrylands + Koompartoo Mays Hill + Val Cottages) Residential Induction Unit Food Services (Meals Plus + GPT Food Recovery Program) Community Services Women s, Family and Children s Services (Thelma Brown Cottage + Kelly s Cottages + Brighter Futures) Community Visitors Scheme Wesley Apartments
The need to work together No quick fix Issues are complex and varied Fertile ground for improvement The need for co-ordination amongst all providers and those who offer services The long term monitoring of the welfare of those we assist Little point in providers fighting over limited govt funds
Parramatta Homeless Men s Coalition When established in 2002, the Parramatta Homelessness Coalition had a specific focus on men s homelessness issues impacting on the service delivery system based in the Parramatta LGA. The Coalition linked to the broader strategic directions of the Western Sydney Strategic Plan for Homelessness (WSSPH). The Coalition has met on a regular basis since It has undertaken a review of the men s SAAP service delivery system and has implemented the recommendations from the review. Parramatta Mission, Mission Australia and St. Vincent de Paul Society now have improved funding on an annual recurrent basis, additional program options for clients in their care, and strong linkages across all areas of Specialist Homelessness operations.
Parramatta Homeless Men s Coalition Current Members in 2011 include: Parramatta Mission (Crisis & Medium term Rehab) Mission Australia (MARSS & Gateway Programs) St Vincent de Paul Society (Medium Term & Accord Program.) Department of Community Services Housing NSW - Greater Western Sydney (Public Housing) Division Housing NSW - Community Housing Parramatta City Council Centrelink Department of Corrective Services (Probation & Parole) Parramatta Area Health Service Affordable Housing (Community Housing) Department of Ageing and Disability Services
