For details about how you pick up your phone to reduce ringtone volume, see the demonstration in Motion control. 58
66 3 Others 3.46 Why can't I place or answer calls sometimes when I raise my phone to my ear? You can raise your phone to your ear to place a call only from the call or contact details screen. Similarly, you can raise your phone to your ear to answer a call only from the call screen. In addition, this function requires collection of simulate gyroscope sensor data. Therefore, to increase the success rate, raise your phone to your ear in the same manner as answering or placing a call and place the phone on the ear for 0.5 seconds Why is the screen not turned on after I double touch the screen? Make sure you have turned on the Double touch to turn on the screen function in Motion control. To prevent the screen from being turned on by inadvertent operations, the double touch gesture has restrictions on the touched screen area, touch speed, and distance between the two touches. Therefore, when you are using this function, double touch the central area of the screen quickly, and make sure the proximity sensor at the upper part of the screen is not blocked Why can't the screen off gesture be identified sometimes? The proximity sensor at the upper part of the screen may be blocked. When this sensor is blocked, your phone cannot identify your screen off gesture What can I do if my phone can't be powered on? Use either of the following methods:! Perform a Wi-Fi network one-touch recovery. 1. Insert a microsd card with 2 GB or more free space into your phone. 2. When pressing and holding the volume down button, connect a USB cable to your phone. Your phone enters FastBoot mode, as shown in the following figure. 59
67 3 Others 3. Press and hold the volume up button to place your phone in recovery mode, as shown in the following figure. 4. Touch OK. 60
68 3 Others Your phone automatically searches for Wi-Fi networks and starts recovery. This process may take a long time.! Update your phone using a microsd card. 5. Download the latest update package for your phone from Huawei's official website. 6. In the microsd card's root directory, create a folder named dload. 7. Copy the downloaded update package to the dload folder. 8. Press the volume up, volume down, and power buttons simultaneously. Your phone vibrates and starts the update Why isn't there a disk mapping after I connect my phone to a computer in USB flash drive mode? Your phone does not have a microsd card inserted. In MTP mode, content in your phone's storage and microsd card is displayed, while in USB flash drive mode, only content in your microsd card is displayed. Try switching to MTP mode for file transmission. 61
