8 Compaction Grouting Compaction grouting is the most common remediation method for sinkhole repair today. When a properly designed grout is injected into loose soils, grout bulbs are formed that displace, densify and compact the surrounding soil. As with other remediation efforts, the geotechnical engineer will issue a comprehensive report and plan of action to fix the problem. The report will estimate the depth and quantities of aggregate grout and quide the contractor in pumping stages. Underpinning Underpinning is a means of transfering foundation loads to deeper, dense soils or bedrock and limestone Basically it is the process of modifying an existing foundation system by extending it to or into subsurface strata that is deeper and more stable than the near surface soil that supports the existing foundation system.
