In: XXI Congreso latinoamericano de Hidráulica * Rainfall increase in the Campinas Great Area; * Number of rainfall days decreased, however the annual rainfall intensity rised; Hipothesis: 1) Urban growth; 2) Cantareira Reservoirs; 3) Climatic changes. 27
28 1) Urban growth: region has grown very rapidly; Thermal convection: rainfalls of high intensity but low duration. 3) Climatic change 2) Cantareira reservoirs: In the 70s: construction of a system of reservoirs for water supply to the São Paulo Great Area; Reservoirs located in the direction of the prevailing winds towards Campinas 3) Climatic changes or most likely the sum of the 3 causes 28
