2 HOTEL The Hotel Schweizerhof opened in 1982 as a 4* Hotel. Built in the Chalet-Style, it achieved the addition of a Wellness area, the SEMPERVIVUM in Located on the Bahnhofstrasse, the Schweizerhof is truly in the heart of Zermatt and within only 100m distance from the main train station and the Gornergratbahn mountain rail station. Other mountain funiculars, as well as the Skibus-stop are reachable within a few minutes by foot. The Hotel Schweizerhof & Résidence comprises 108 guestrooms and suites in total. The generously-proportioned guestrooms and cosy public areas are appreciated by both Swiss and international guests. Families with children are warmly welcomed by the Hotel Schweizerhof. For the younger guests, the hotel s children adventure playroom offers engaging and fun play throughout the winter season. On a B&B basis, children up to 12 years old are accommodated in their parent s rooms for free, with baby cots also available without extra charge. The Hotel Schweizerhof proudly holds the quality label: Family-friendly Familien willkommen. In addition, it also belongs to the association of the Schweizerhof Hotels of Switzerland. RÉSIDENCE The Résidence Schweizerhof is located at the heart of the pedestrianized mountain village, approximately 50m from the main building of the 4* Hotel. Opened in 2004, it offers 13 additional luxurious Suites und Duplex suites, some containing one or two further annexed bedrooms within. Decorated in warm tones, these very modern apartments provide guests with an integrated kitchen, dining tables and a cosy living area, over and above the standard amenities. 2

3 HOSTS AND PERSONALITIES OF THE HOUSE Since April 2016 the Hotel Schweizerhof & Résidence is run by Jürgen Marx. In his daily work he can count on the active support of many long term employees. At this place we would like to introduce two very important personalities of the hotel to represent the spirit of the Schweizerhof team: Marija Carevic, Generalgouvernante Marija came to Zermatt for a winter-season in the 90s as a room attendant and maid. Through her attention to detail, kindness towards guests and absolute reliability, Marija quickly became a highly valued member of staff. One season led to many years, in which Marija came to call the Hotel Schweizerhof & Résidence her second home. In this time, she has built close relationships with loyal guests, who have become almost like a family to her. José Da Silva Freitas, Concièrge José has been a part of Hotel Schweizerhof & Résidence for almost a quarter of a century, and so knows the house and the guests better than anyone. As Concierge, he takes care of the personal wishes and special requests of the guests, which he does his utmost to fulfill. As once it happened, a guest who was unfamiliar with the area missed the last train to the Riffelalp and José spontaneously took his hiking gear and accompanied the gentleman on his trek. After all, it seemed the best way to ensure the guest would find his way safely! 3

4 ROOMS Most of the double rooms are fitted out as twin rooms, with French / double beds available on request. Single rooms are completed by a shower room, double rooms have a bathroom. All rooms come with a minibar, radio/alarm clock, international satellite television access, direct dial telephone, WiFi, Safe and hair-dryer. A seating corner as well as a writing table come as standard in each room. Most rooms also come with a balcony, providing guests with views on Zermatt s mountain panorama. RESTAURANTS AND BAR The Hotel Schweizerhof & Résidence has two restaurants: The Dining-Room and the Schwyzer Stübli, just open during winter. The Dining-Room offers a generous hot and cold breakfast buffet each day. Additionally, guests with half board have the option to choose between a delicious 5-course dinner at the Dining Room or to select one of the fine appetizers offered at the Hotel lobby bar which is followed by a 3 course dinner at the Dining Room. The Restaurant Schwyzer Stübli is a traditional Swiss dining parlour that welcomes guests from both near and far. The cosy atmosphere, the typical Swiss cuisine as well as the Swiss folkloric music make the Schwyzer Stübli a jewel for friends of the Swiss traditions. The Dining-Room can hold 160 guests, whilst the Schwyzer Stübli can welcome up to 70 guests. The two hotel restaurants are located on the ground floor, making the lobby area a central meeting point, at the heart of the hotel s life. In the lobby area there is an open fire as well as the cosy Hotel bar, perfect to meet with family and friends in the afternoon or evening time. During the winter season, a large selection of cakes draws guests for afternoon tea each day. Once in a week for all in-house guests an aperitif is hosted. As part of the Dine-around offer, guests have the possibility to sample new cuisines and experience a variety of flavours during the course of their stay, from traditional Swiss, to Italian, Asian, or French fare. It is characterized by a traditional hotel. It was the starting point for the first ascent of the Matterhorn. There Edward Whymper created his rope team. MEETING FACILITIES The hotel offers two modern and fully equipped function rooms for conferences, exhibitions and other events. They are situated in the quiet Eastern wing of the hotel, facing the garden and flooded with daylight. The meeting rooms are connected to the sunny terrace with spectacular view on the mountains of Zermatt. 7 ACTIVITIES IN AND AROUND ZERMATT The village of Zermatt and its surrounding mountains offer many possibilities for outdoor pursuits and activities. The view of the surrounding 27 four-thousand meter peaks is a unique experience. Within the village, many further culinary highlights await you thanks to Zermatt s masterful chefs, reuniting a total of 293 Gault&Millau points more than anywhere else in Switzerland. The Hotel can also organize helicopter and paragliding trips, mountain bike trails, nighttime ski expeditions, wine tastings and much more on request. Guests of the Hotel Schweizerhof & Résidence can also take advantage of the hotel s own ski service and equipment rental. A partnership with Schweizer Thömus Mountainbikes Verleih gives thrill seeking guests the possibility to rent mountain bikes during the summer season. Immediately behind the Hotel are tennis courts, which are converted into a magical iceskating rink in the winter season. ARRIVAL AND PARKING Zermatt is car free. At the entry of Täsch s park and ride, the Hotel has its own garage, the Welcome Parking. Employees from the hotel organize the journey from the carpark to the hotel and take care of the luggage. On request, taxi-transfers can be organized from and to the airports of Geneva, Zurich, Basel, Milano and Sion. 7
