2 Introduction About the Strategic Plan About the Division The goal of the Douglas County School District is to prepare students to The Information Technology Division consists of four service areas: compete on the world stage for the college or career pathway of their choice. As Douglas County School District (DCSD) reinvents the approach to deliver education, the Information Technology Division has transformed to deliver world-class services in support of the evolving technology landscape of our schools. The Information Technology Division empowers the transformation of learning, spaces, and people using technology. At the nexus of the learning environment and the instructional shift for teaching and learning is technology by enabling and scaling success. 3 Priorities Ensure information safety at all levels Develop student data privacy policies Deliver training to staff, students and parents on issues of data privacy Implement a system for parents to enable transparency on student data Measure and report on district compliance with data privacy laws Enable choice in our schools by creating compelling solutions Implement a system for Parent School Choice st Create a rich portfolio of technology choices to enable 21 century learning Create innovative learning spaces at all of our schools Refine Infrastructure to ensure adequate capacity ahead of demand on a continuous basis Create rich learning environments and infuse appropriate technology Create technology strategy to support instructional transformation Enable a rich technology curriculum at every grade level Create technical program opportunities across all schools for College and career readiness Create a digital resource infrastructure for student learning Operate resilient infrastructure and enable data based decisions Create technology advisory outreach program to engage in strategic initiatives Implement a Balanced Assessment platform integrated with existing infrastructure Develop a data warehouse infrastructure to enable rich analytics Refine and build the InspirED platform in support of measuring system performance
4 About the Division Information Technology Division Structure The Information Technology Division consists of four service areas: Infrastructure Services, Learning Services, Business Services, and Support Services. Infrastructure Services encompasses the critical systems that provide a foundation for all technology efforts throughout the district. This includes data backups, storage, telecommunications and desktop engineering, providing robust stability for readiness and recovery. Learning Services works directly with school teams to leverage technology integration and provide scalable technology solutions and support for individual schools. Business Services creates and delivers innovative solutions through software development and maintenance, as well as engineering multisystem integrations and software quality control. Information Technology Division Infrastructure Services Learning Services Business Services Support Services provides direct user interaction with district stakeholders via numerous support channels (phone, in-person, webbased ticketing, remote desktop, ). All operations reliant upon technology are supported by software and desktop support techs. Support Services
5 Continuous Improvement DCSD is committed to a process of continuous improvement. DCSD is in the process of systemic transformation. We have used a continuous improvement process including the following: explore ideas; set expectations based on research and best practices; collaboratively create; integrate into all appropriate systems; implement; evaluate; and refine. 10 Support Services Goals Goal Explore Set Expectations Create Integrate Implement Evaluate Refine Strategy Expand stakeholder support options to improve user interaction experience with IT Explore and implement collaborative opportunities within the IT division for expeditious issue resolution Improve asset management and site-based device reporting capabilities Promote the message of DCSD technology to all stakeholders with a unified, branded communications strategy Implement OS and browser agnostic remote systems support tool for efficient remote troubleshooting capabilities Introduce chat agent-based support channel availability Collaborate with web-based support ticket process owners to build custom intake fields for relevant issue data-capturing Establish Level 2 support personnel opportunity within the IT Support Center model for expanded technical expertise regarding issue escalations, incident management and rootcause analysis Consistent auditing of process escalations, participation in intra-division staff meetings, and ownership of knowledge-share and documentation handoff with other IT division areas. Migration of asset management database and systems into full-featured asset management solution for improved real-time tracking of device ownership and deployment Integration of asset management into support ticketing system for ongoing maintenance and accountability record Build standardized reporting structures for on-demand site device ownership analytics Consistent, timely distribution of relevant IT communications via website, /groups, social media and Identify IT-related communications and feature stories for partnering opportunities with district Community Relations department
