1 Checklist Fire, Water Damage, Storm Damage or similar Get a clear picture of the event. What has happened/is about to happen? The fire officer/leader of the rescue operation is informed of the abovementioned damage situation and the feared new damage and accident risks that rescue personnel and neighbours may be subjected to, such as gas cylinders, inflammable goods, toxic substances etc. During ongoing incident Check to confirm whether everyone has managed to get out of the risk zone Injured and casualties are looked after by personnel trained in nursing and/or ambulance staff. Premises for evacuated staff to stay in Establishing a record of personal belongings left in the area Staff needed for moving materials and preventing damage are appointed Other staff is dismissed while being urged to be available for clean-up and restoration work Information to the next of kin of the injured and casualties is organised The damaged area is cordoned off and kept under surveillance 2
2 Ensure that roads around the damaged area is kept clear for the rescue services 3
3 The following companies, departments, authorities etc. are to be informed of the event: The executive body The Swedish Work Environment Authority Kammarkollegiet Residual value protection and reconstruction companies (via SOS Alarm) Ensure that important and valuable machines, facilities, goods, material, documents etc. that are in the danger zone are moved to a more Sensitive machines moved outdoors are covered by tarpaulin Premises matters the landlord is contacted via the security company The staff used for damage control are provided with: Food and drink Opportunities to wash and change clothes Possibilities for taking a break, resting and recovering Replacements for staff who has worked long hours The Work Environment Authority and the unions are informed of overtime work Preliminary investigation of the event is executed Causes, course of event, contributing factors, damage and consequences. (the Police, the Work Environment Authority etc.) 4
4 After the incident A clear picture of the damages and the consequences for the university is established Based on this picture and practical possibilities, the university strategy for coping with the crisis at hand is developed Ensure that fire alarms and sprinkler functions are reset after the approval of the fire officer Reinstate the supplies such as electricity, water, heating, ventilation, air pressure etc. in the damaged premises as soon as possible Smoke and water damaged premises are supplied with forced ventilation, a through flow of air e.g., with open doors, windows, roof hatches Machines or other equipment that have been moved outdoors are protected with tarpaulin Residual value protection and reconstruction companies are hired for salvaging some and water damaged machines and Begin other salvage and reconstruction work Construction dryer, dehumidifier, tarpaulins, slurry exhauster etc. are hired as well as the procurement of plastic wrap, antirust oil etc. The damaged area is kept separated and cordoned off from the rest of the activities 5
5 A place for goods, material, machines etc. is arranged within or outside the university as well as surveillance of these Make sure that important documents, blueprints and other documentation important for the university is available and survey what has been lost Investigate the consequences of any loss of key skills and take measures to reduce the consequences of the damage Appoint a reconstruction group that is responsible for planning the continued activities 6
