1 Results of the 2012 Online Graduating Senior Survey for Animation (this was the primary major for 9 of the 393 total seniors who responded) This is the fourth year that we've administered the online version of the senior survey. The focus of the survey is to obtain student perceptions of 16 academic experiences and 30 services/programs. Fall 2011 seniors who finished during that semester and Spring 2012 students who were expected to graduate this May or summer were notified via a series of s that they were required to complete the survey prior to picking up their Commencement tickets in April. Adopting this strategy yielded a 96% response rate (393 out of 408), similar to last year's return. The survey was designed so that students first rated the importance of the 16 outcomes and then rated their estimated ability with these same outcomes. For the 30 programs/services items, they were asked to rate the importance of the items and then their satisfaction. All of the rating scales were set up so that lower scores were better than higher scores. An important piece of the analysis is to look at the gaps between the importance and ability/satisfaction ratings in order to determine which outcomes or services were the weakest (those having a large negative gap score), those that met student expectations (those with small negative or positive gap scores), and those that were the strongest (large positive gap scores). Student Ratings of 46 MICA Areas Average Ratings of Sixteen Academic Experience (Outcomes), Sorted from Most to Least Important The instructions for rating the importance of each of these academic experiences were "First, please rate how important each of the following educational outcomes are to your future success as an artist, designer, or scholar; we would like your most honest assessment ". The rating scale was "Very Important = 1, Important = 2, Neither Important nor Unimportant = 3, Not Very Important = 4, Not Important At All = 5".
