Founded in 1999, FRAME is a formal collaboration of museums in twelve cities in France, twelve museums in the United States and one associate member in Canada. FRAME serves as a catalyst for cultural exchange between France and the United States. Thanks to this unique consortium, extraordinary collections are placed at the service of an ever-wider public on both sides of the Atlantic. In these ways, FRAME serves the cultural needs of each country and educates a constituency of great size, breadth and distribution.
4 Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco: Educational Programs & Community Outreach continued Friday Nights at the de Young include a mix of live music, dance performances, film screenings, panel discussions, lectures, artist demonstrations, special performances, hands-on art activities and exhibition tours. Each evening has a unique theme and ties in with the special exhibitions and permanent collections at the de Young. Local artists conduct drop-in workshops, debut new commissions, display their art in the Kimball Education Gallery, and take part in artist/curator conversations about the creative process. The de Young Artist Fellows program allows art fellows to work onsite at the de Young, sharing their ideas, works in progress, collaborative projects, finished artworks and final productions with museum visitors and community members. de Young Artist Studio Every month the museum invites artists to install and demonstrate their art form at the de Young. This interactive program enables visitors to meet artists and gives the artists an opportunity to work with the public. Artists working in various media are encouraged to apply. The de Young dyinterpretations is a museum app, which allows participants to go behind the scenes and experience the featured artist's perspective with live music and interviews that celebrate the de Young. Audiences can watch artists install their work, enjoy music inspired by the museum collection, and hear from the artists themselves.
