California Community Colleges System Office Is a WUE school right for you? 4 Peterson s Education Portal. An all-purpose site including a college search, as well as information about summer programs, summer camps, and jobs. The site asks you to register before using some of the search engines and other resources, but there is no registration fee. There is a charge for some of the services provided. UCAN University: The NAICU consumer-information initiative U-CAN (University & College Accountability Network) is designed to give, in a common format, prospective students and their families concise, Web-based consumer-friendly information on the nation's nonprofit, private colleges and universities. The Education Trust: Provides research-based information and resources for improving college preparation, access, and success for underserved populations, including lowincome, underrepresented minority, and first-generation students. Site has profiles of successful programs that increase college access. Making it Count Articles written for students, by students as well as articles written by career professionals, the Making It Count website is a valuable tool for students transitioning into high school, into college and into their career. The site also includes interactive games, tools, and e-newsletters. Mapping Your Future. Here you ll find general information about scholarships, financial aid, planning a career, selecting a college, and paying for it: Super College College search and Financial Aid Information College.gov is being built by the U.S. Dept. of Ed. in collaboration with students. This site is intended to be the go-to source for information and resources about planning, preparing and paying for postsecondary education (such as 2- or 4-year colleges and universities, as well as vocational or career schools). Princeton Review Education search, test prep and Financial Aid information CollegeNET Internet admissions service, college search, financial aid and scholarship information East Bay Consortium College information and Financial Aid Information What Will They Learn? provides unique information on whether colleges make sure their students learn the things they need to know. You can find what they expect their graduates to study outside their majors, how much they are charging, how many of their students graduate, and what the colleges say about the education they offer. There are more than 125 institutions.
5 Know how to go In order to turn these students' college dreams into action-oriented goals, the American Council on Education, Lumina Foundation for Education and the Ad Council launched the KnowHow2GO campaign in January This multiyear, multimedia effort includes television, radio and outdoor public service advertisements (PSAs) that encourage 8th through 10th graders to prepare for college using four simple steps. University Hosts UniversityHosts allows high school students to receive a personalized tour from someone who is studying the same major that the high school student is interested in studying. High school students will be able shadow a college student and attend classes, eat at the dining halls, check out the dorms, look through the libraries, talk to professors, attend extra-curricular activities, and build a mentor relationship with their host. Our goal is to help high school students make the right choice when deciding on where to spend the next four years of their lives. College students are also incentivized to provide the best tour possible as they are paid for their time and service by the high school students. The majority of the top colleges in California are covered by UniversityHosts, and we are rapidly expanding with a goal of covering all of the colleges in California. COLLEGE VISITS offers the college bound student a first-hand look at colleges and universities throughout the United States. Because of our experience in working with a multitude of higher education institutions, we are able to obtain meetings with admissions representatives, student led tours, and campus housing. This helps to take the hassle and worry away from the student and parents in organizing a family visit. COLLEGE VISITS tours cover all aspects of college life. We tour small, medium and large schools, rural and urban, and public and private schools. Our tours cover almost every region of the U.S., so if there is a particular school or region you are interested in, chances are COLLEGE VISITS goes there. Campus Tours: Virtual College Tours. Virtual tours with still pictures and descriptions, webcams, campus maps, and videos of hundreds of colleges throughout the United States. Provides a first look at colleges.
