2 NAVIANCE The Archb~shop Wood guidance and counseling staff has begun ysing NAVIANCE. It is an exciting, thorough and useful computer program that helps students and parents through the sometimes overwhelming career and college decision making process. Connect Learning and Life: Through self discovery and collaboration with parents, teachers and school counselors, Naviance enables students to find college and career pathways that are right for them. Start by setting personalized goals, learn about your skills and interests, and explore career options based on those interests. Then search for colleges, apply for schqiarships and track your admissions status. Finally, Naviance helps students plan a course of action_ to reach their goals, find resources to prepare academically, and discover their own path. Personalized Learning Plans: The path to college and career readiness begins with self discovery. Naviance lets students learn about their strengths and areas of interest, and matches those skills with college and career options that are the right fit for each student. Working directly with their school counselors, students can set personalized learning goals and manage all the tasks needed for post-secondary success. Career Exploration & Course Planning: Once students have an understanding of who they are, Naviance empowers them to learn about what they want to be and how to get there. The Roadtrip Nation Interview Archive features student conversations with accomplished individuals who have defined their own road in life to achieve unique goals. Naviance also offers a series of career assessments that help students discover multiple career options, and plan their career paths based on general areas of interest, and the level of education and training required to achieve their individuaj-goa1s- crnc:t-ocjectives~ - College Search.& Admissi~ns: Naviance makes college research easier. Whether it's matching colleges to a student's career interests, or comparing admissions rates at a student's top college choices, the college planning tools allow students and families to make informed decisions about their options by comparing colleges and universities, exploring scholarship opportunities, tracking college applications, and accessing a variety of other college research materials. The mobile app lets students do college research and plan college visits on the go.. All of the juniors have been set up with a Naviance account. Each student will have an ~ individual session with their counselor to learn the basics of the program.. We encour~ge students and parents to use this valuable new tool in the college and career process. 114
