10 What is the ehr? a secure and private lifetime record of an individual s key health history and care. The EHR is NOT one system. It IS a group of systems which together securely store the health information of an individual. Diagnostic imaging reports are scheduled to be added to the EHR Viewer in October. This will complete the requirements of the provincial electronic health record as defined by Canada Health Infoway.

11 What is the ehr? There are nearly 3,000 health care providers with access to the ehr Viewer including physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and others. Work continues to increase that number. The EHR Viewer provides health care professionals with access to 90% of the lab results in the province, 100% of medications dispensed outside of the hospitals, immunization histories, and clinical visits.

12 What is the ehr? It also includes tools for the support and management of chronic diseases like diabetes and coronary artery disease. Access to the EHR Viewer is easy, secure and available anytime from computers, laptops and ipads. Early feedback has been extremely positive. Provincial view of key clinical patient information

15 EHR Progress Update ( ) Many of the hospital systems that feed the Electronic Health Record (EHR) data banks are in place in larger centers throughout the province (tertiary and regional) The key components of the EHR are in place: o Client/Patient Registry/Health Provider Registry o Immunization o Pharmacy Data Bank (PIP) o Diagnostic Imaging Data Bank (PACS) o Laboratory Results Data Bank o Telehealth o COMING DIAGNOSTIC IMAGES

Basic EHR in place by fall 2014 Seeking Funding for Launch in Context 100% of data for basic EHR for entire health system completed by March 31, 2017, assuming regional readiness Patient portal in place by the July 2015 (pilot) Like any business, will need to continue: o Ensure currency of software o Maintain highly available and sustainable infrastructure o Enhance current products o Add new functionality/capability
