2 Intelligent Mail for Small Business Tool The IMsb tool is a new, free online tool specifically designed for small-volume mailers whom currently do not use software. Always promote software vendors first! It s a web based program. No software or downloads required. The tool creates unique Intelligent mail barcodes for address labels or mail pieces. Electronic postage statements are automatically created. 2
3 IMsb Tool Designed Specifically for Small- Volume Mailers Class of Mail: First-Class Mail Standard Mail Processing Category: Cards Letters Flats Size of Mailing: Maximum mailing size less than 10,000 pieces per mailing. Maximum yearly volume less than 250,000 pieces per permit. Addresses affixed to: Labels (1-inch, 1.33-inch, 2-inch) Envelopes (No. 6 ¾, No. 7, No. 10) Inserts placed in window envelopes Mail Merge option Permit Type: Permit Imprint 3 Precanceled Stamps Postage Meter
4 Customer Benefits Using the IMsb tool is FREE! The tool supports DSCF rates and all automation presort discounts. The tool identifies each piece to a specific tray based on the dimensions provided by the customer. The annual presort fee may be waived if all mailings are submitted as Full Service! Address list is cleansed Validates addresses within the database are accurate. Reduces amount undeliverable mail 4 Ability to remove duplicates from mailing list.
5 Electronic Postage Statements The IMsb Tool walks the customer through entering all information needed to create an electronic postage statement. All information sent to PostalOne! electronically. 5
6 Access the IMsb Tool No special software or installation is required to use the IMsb tool. Access the application via a Web Browser Log in through the IMsb link on the Business Customer Gateway at gateway.usps.com. The IMsb link is located on the mailing services page. 6

9 Step 3-Service type ID (STID) Select: Class of mail IM Service type Extra service type How is move update currently met IM tracing Service type Ancillary Service Endorsement. 9
10 Step 4-Tell us about the mailpiece Processing Category Size of mailpiece Thickness of 50 pieces stacked. Single piece weight in ounces. Date they plan on bringing in the mail. Approx.. # of total pieces 10
11 Step 5- Additional Mailing options and return address Destination Entry Discounts- DSCF or None Move Update source: The method used to meet the Move Update requirement? Rate type- Regular or Non Profit. It this a political mailing? Mailing contains windowed envelopes or windowed flats? Return address-optional use 11
12 Step 6-Review and Confirm Job Selection. 12 Click Accept and then OK in the pop up box to proceed.
13 Step 7- Upload address and view. Uploads Address list/file The Address File Viewer lets a customer review the file to ensure it s the correct file. 13
14 Data base File A data base may have to be formatted to be used in the IMsb tool. The file must be in one of the following file formats: Microsoft Excel 2010 Microsoft Excel 2007 Microsoft Excel 2003 Comma Separated Value (CSV). 14

16 Step 7- Upload address and view. Customer uploads Address list/file The Address File Viewer lets a customer review their file to ensure it s the correct file. 16
17 Step 8- Method of Entry The location is prepopulated by permit finance number. The field allows a customer to select other locations in anticipation of mail any where. 17
18 Step 9- Address Correction Complete-click to continue Results: Processed- total address in list. Exact Match- no correction was made to the address by the USPS Matched with changes- A correction was made to the address to make it correct. Matched to a building defaultmeans its missing the apartment or suite #. Unmatched- Bad address according to USPS files. (review if necessary) 18

22 Step 11 Downloads-generation of the addresses with the inclusion of the intelligent mail barcode for labels/envelope/inserts. Three label sizes available for letters One label size for flats Save corrected address lists or lists for mail merge option. 22
