The students will develop and understanding of: Values/Beliefs: Religion often influences a civilization s values and beliefs. Social Structure: Religion can be influence the development of social hierarchies. Government: Religion can impact a government. Empires: Connections between empires can lead to the rise and spread of religion. Religion can contribute to the rise/decline of Empires.* * If you choose to teach Unit 4 (Religions) prior to Unit 3 (Empires), focus on the rise of empires for this portion of the unit.
