2 How does Shuttel work? Activate Before you can use your Shuttel card you have to activate it. You do this by following the four steps described in the accompanying letter. Before you can travel on public transport, you have to go through a few extra steps: Log in on your portal via mijn.shuttel.nl, where you will see a notification on the upper right. Click on this notification and you will see an Activate button. Click on this button. Your card is now activated, but you cannot yet use it on public transport. After the activation it takes two working days before you can pick up your public transport products at a self-service point. To find a self-service point near you, go to nl/adresvinder. Hold the Shuttel card in front of the card reader. Select Pick up order and follow the instructions on the screen. Always enough credit Once you have activated your Shuttel card, your employer will make sure there is always enough credit on it, so you don t have to top up the credit yourself. Personal Your Shuttel card is non-transferable, so you can t lend it to anyone else. You make agreements on how you will use Shuttel with your employer. Forgotten your card? If you have forgotten your Shuttel card, then please remember to buy a normal ticket from the driver or self-service machine. It is always your responsibility to have a valid ticket. You have to pay any fines that might be incurred. Loss or theft Have you lost your Shuttel card, or has it been stolen? Then report this as soon as possible by calling or ing vragen@shuttel.nl. We will then block your card and immediately apply for a new one for you.

Travelling on these forms of transport is easy, but you do have to check in and out in the right way. Checking in is not the same everywhere Checking in for bus and tram: in the vehicle by the door. Checking in for metro and train: on the platform or in the station. How does checking in work? Go to a card reader. You can recognise it by this logo Hold your Shuttel card against the reader. When you have checked in you ll hear a single tone and see a green light. The screen will show the message Incheck OK or In OK. Checking out is also not the same everywhere Checking out for bus and tram: in the vehicle by the door. Checking out for metro and train: on the platform or in the station. * Depending on the options chosen by your employer. How does checking out work? Go to a card reader. You can recognise it by this logo Hold your Shuttel card against the reader. When you have checked out you ll hear a double tone. Are you still not checked out? Then contact the Shuttel service desk to ask for your money back. Always check out on the same vehicle you boarded (bus, tram) and with the same transport company (train). Of course you sometimes have to change bus, tram or train during your journey. Here too, a few simple rules apply. Changing to another bus or tram Every time you change bus or tram you have to check out and then check in again. When you check in again, the card reader will show the message Overstap OK. The maximum time for changing to another bus or tram is 35 minutes. Changing to another train When you change to another train from the same train company you do not have to check out and in again. There are a number of train companies in the Netherlands, such as NS, Connexxion, Arriva, Syntus and Veolia NB: When you change to a train from another company, you have to check out and then check in again. If you don t do this, you will have to pay the maximum price for your journey!

4 Renting an OV-fiets (rental bicycle) You can also rent an OV-fiets rental bicycle with your Shuttel card. The bicycles are kept in a staffed or unstaffed cycle park, or a self-service bicycle locker. You can get a bicycle from the cycle park by showing your Shuttel card. The employee there will help you with renting the bicycle. There are also bicycles available from bicycle lockers. You can recognise them by the OV-fiets logo on the side. One of the bicycle lockers will have a blue operating panel with a display and a numeric keyboard. NB: You can return the OV-fiets to a different location from the one where you picked it up, but this involves additional costs. How to rent an OV-fiets from a bicycle locker Insert your Shuttel card in the metal slot. The number of the locker door you can open will be shown on the display. Take out the OV-fiets. Carefully close the door. Wait until you see the message on the display that the door is locked. When returning an OV-fiets, insert your Shuttel card in the metal slot of the blue operating panel. You will be asked if the bicycle is still in good condition. If that is not the case, you will be asked what is wrong with it. Replace the OV-fiets in the locker, carefully close the door and wait until you see the message on the display that the door is locked.
