Shaft seal Referring to the pump shown in the figure, the rive gear (1) rives roun the riven gear (2), transferring the oil from the suction port to the pressure port as it turns roun. The gears are mae from high strength steel alloy. The bushings (3) serve a ual purpose: to act as a bearing for the gears to balance axial an raial thrust in proportion to the change in operating pressure. The gears bushings assembly is fitte insie the pump boy (4), in which generally the suction an pressure ports are forme. The pump boy is mae of high strength extrue aluminium alloy. The front cover (5), which also acts as a mounting flange, an the rear cover (6) are connecte to one another by mounting tie ros (7). The pump assembly is complete by a series of seals: alancing seals (8) can be fitte in recesses in the bushings as shown in the figure, or in the covers. Their purpose is to elimit the longituinal balancing area separating the suction an pressure zones. Pumps with clockwise rotation () have a rive gear which turns clockwise, with the suction port on the left an the pressure port on the right. Pumps with counterclockwise rotation (S) have a rive gear which turns counterclockwise, with the suction port on the right an the pressure port on the left. The figure also shows the pressure flow insie the pumps as the oil is transferre from the suction port to the pressure port. s regars reversible pumps (R), the ports are alternatively for suction an pressure. Right han rotation Pumps with a uniirectional rotation ( or S) have the enomination. Pumps with reversible rotation have the enomination R. It is possible to change the rotation irection of the entire range of pumps without having to replace any component, except for the 100 group, for which it is necessary to replace the front cover. 5 2.2 Recommene fluis/llowe temperatures We recommen using only mineral oil base hyraulic fluis that comply with the ISO/IN stanars. Viscosity range: recommene mm 2 /s (cst) permitte up to 700 mm 2 /s (cst) Operating temperature of seals 05 R05 Temperature una N C C Viton* C C ttention: Use of pumps at temperatures above 80 C must always be agree upon with our Technical Office, an in any case this can cause a significant worsening in the volumetric efficiency. For use uner conitions ifferent from those inicate in this catalogue, please contact our Sales epartment 2.3 Suction The absolute suction pressure must be V 0.75 bar (11 PSI); therefore, the following must be avoie: large height ifferences between pump an tank M P V (Example 1) long stretches of piping special features such as: M bens reuctions in iameter quick couplings etc. It is also avisable to choose a filter of a suitable size to minimise any pressure rop an to take measures to prevent graual clogging over time. 6 2.5 Motor pump coupling M M h H 2.5 : 3.5 bsolutely no raial or axial forces shoul be transmitte to the rive shaft in the motor pump coupling. Such forces cause rapi an irregular wear on the balancing surface of the bushings an gear support, with a consequent worsening in pump performance. The coupling joint must be able to absorb any iscrepancies in the coaxial alignment of the motor pump shafts without placing any loa on the pump shaft. In the couplings between spline shafts, the connecting sleeve must be free to move along its axis. The length of the sleeve must be sufficient to cover the spline sections of the motor pump shafts completely in any position. (Example 1) (Example 2) The istance between the ens of the shafts must be between mm (.10".14"). Make sure that the spline coupling is suitably lubricate to protect it against rapi eterioration. If there are raial an/or axial loas on the rive shaft, such as when it is riven by a V belt an pulley or pair of gear wheels, it shoul be fitte with a front cover with supporting bearings. 7 2.6 General precaution In aition to the recommenations regaring fluis, filtration, coupling, etc., we suggest the following: lways check the rotation irection of the pump s rive shaft; it must be compatible with the rotation irection of the pump itself. e particularly careful in cleaning an make sure, when connecting the suction an pressure piping, that no chips, rag threas, teflon tape, etc. get into the pump circulation system. Check the tightness of the suction an pressure fittings, the correct positioning of the O Ring, an make sure there is no irt between the flange an the pump boy. The first pump start up can be facilitate by manually filling the suction piping an the pump itself with oil. To facilitate air bleeing, start the pump with the circuit not pressurise. To ensure the best heat istribution insie the tank, make sure the return pipe is not too close to the pump s suction piping.
