2 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Hyperlinks A hyperlink (or link) is a word, group of words, or image that you can click on to take you to a new page or a new section within your website. In this section we will be going over the following features. Hyperlink Manager Insert Link Custom Link Insert Anchor Remove Link Hyperlink Let s start by adding a hyperlink to the Welcome page. 3 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Step 2. The hyperlink manager will pop up allowing you to create a link. Step 3. Type in the address you want the link to go to under URL. (In this example we are going to create a link to Questions? Call (888) or visit

5 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Step 5. Under Target click on the drop down menu to select how the link will open from the browser. If your link is going to a page within your website you can select Parent or Same Window. If your link is going to a page that is not within your website select New Window so the link will open in a new window and the visitor does not leave your website. 162 Questions? Call (888) or visit
6 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Step 6. Under Tooltip type the name or phrase that describes the link. This will display when you roll your mouse over the link. A box will pop up over the link with your description. Step 7. Click Ok when you are finished to add the link to your page. 163 Questions? Call (888) or visit
7 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Link Let s continue by inserting an Link on the Welcome page. Step 1. Highlight the address at the bottom of the page that we pasted in from the earlier section. Then click on the Hyperlink Manager button from the tool bar. 164 Questions? Call (888) or visit
8 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Step 2. The Hyperlink Manager will pop up displaying the tab. Type the address in the Address field. Because we highlighted the address in step 1 this automatically adds the text to the Link Text field. If we did not highlight the address you can type in the word or phrase you want to become your link. Step 3. Type a short message under the Subject field describing what the is going to be about. 10 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Custom Link Next let s use the Custom Link drop down menu from the tool bar. This tool allows you to quickly link a word or picture to a page that is already created from within your website. Step 1. Highlight the words Contact us from the Welcome page. 167 Questions? 13 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Step 4. Use this tool to link other keywords on your home page to relevant pages from within your website. This allows the visitor to easily find and navigate to other pages from within your site. 14 FORMATTING YOUR WEBPAGE Anchors Step 1. Now let s create an Anchor on the Our Practice page. An anchor allows visitors to jump to a specific place in the current webpage or a specific place on another web page. In this example we are going to link keywords at the top of the Our Practice page to the paragraphs below that relate to each topic. Now that the anchor has been created at the bottom of the page we can link it to the top of the page. 22 Uploading & Inserting Images CREATING AND UPLOADING TO YOUR WEB PAGE Adding images to your website is the easiest way to make your website more appealing. In this section we will be going over the following features: Image Manager Uploading an Image Inserting Images Set Images Properties Let s begin by editing the Meet the Doctor page. If you do not already have a Meet the Doctor page we strongly recommend creating one. (Please see Adding New Pages located in Chapter 1) Step 1. The supported file extensions allowed to upload are *.bmp, *.gif, *.jpeg, *.png, *.tiff. Also, the image size must be under 20mb. Step 5. Let s fix that by right clicking on the image and select Properties. Step 9.
