1 REVISED Independent Reading Book Student Response Packet Name: TITLE: Author: CHOOSE A BOOK: Choose a chapter book for Independent Reading that is at your Just Right level. If it is at your independent or just right level, you can read a page in about 1-2 minutes. You understand the story and characters and can think deeply about what is happening. You can make inferences and have opinions that you can explain. FILL OUT THE LOG: Read your book daily at school and home. On the back of this sheet, fill out the reading log. Keep track EVERY time you read of the pages and the approximate time. You may NOT skip recording. ANSWER QUESTIONS IN THE RESPONSE PACKET: You will make comments in this response packet as you read the book. When you come to a spot where you have some thoughts, you can either put a quick reminder on a sticky note on the page or go directly to the packet. You may answer the questions in any order. Just remember to write the date and the page number each time. At the end of each chapter, always stop and think about your comprehension. This is a good time to write a comment. 3 Throughout your reading of the book, choose a time to answer each of the following questions. You must complete them all by the end of the book. Put the DATE and PAGE when you make the comment.
