INTRODUCTION 1.1 About ClickShare Button Manager Overview The ClickShare Button Manager is a stand alone software application to manage your Buttons and all your types of ClickShare Base Units via your computer. Your computer can pair or unpair up to four Buttons at once with a known Base Unit. It is not necessary anymore to physically connect the Button with the Base Unit to pair it. This functionality makes it easy to use any Button with any Base Unit. Different Base Units can be added to the ClickShare Button Manager. These units can be added automatically when on the same network as the computer or they can be added manually via the downloaded configuration file. Supported Base Units ClickShare Button Manager supports: CSC-1 with software version or higher CSM-1 with software version or higher 1.2 Required hardware Minimum PC requirements CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E * 1600 MHz (or equivalent AMD Athlon 64 X * 2000 MHz) Memory: 1024 MB RAM OS: Windows XP PRO/HOME (SP3) (Windows Vista or Windows 7 supported, but requires more RAM) Minimum MAC requirements CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Memory: 1024 MB RAM OS: Mac OS X 10.6,10.7, Installation of ClickShare Button Manager Windows installation 1. Download the latest version of ClickShare Button Manager from Barco s website, 2. Open the zip file and double click on the install file Buttonmanager.msi. The setup window opens. 4 1. Introduction Image 1-1 Welcome page setup window 3. Click Next to start the installation process. Read and accept the license agreement and follow the instructions as given in the setup wizard. When finished, ClickShare Button Manager is added to the list of programs. MAC installation 1. Download the latest version of ClickShare Button Manager from Barco s website, 2. 5 1. Introduction Image 1-3 Main window About the Button overview pane The Button overview pane gives an overview of all Buttons connected with your computer. The following information is given: Serial number connected Button. PairedtoBaseUnit Audio status Status Progress About the Base Units overview pane The Base Unit pane gives an overview of all known Base Units in ClickShare Button Manager. This panel is also used to manage Base Units such as adding and removing units. The following information is given for connected Base Units: Hostname of the Base Unit Firmware of the Base Unit SSID Location, place where to find the Base Unit Base Unit type Online: Base Unit is visible on the network where ClickShare Button Manager is running. 1.5 Settings About settings: proxy settings Click on Settings to open Settings window. 6 1. Introduction Image 1-4 This settings window allows the user to setup: the Proxy type the server address the server port the proxy bypass for local addresses. By default, the software is installed with Proxy type No Proxy. Click Save to save the new settings. 7 2. About Buttons 2. ABOUT BUTTONS 2.1 Detecting Buttons How to detect 1. Plug your Buttons you want to use in the USB ports of your computer. The number of Buttons that can be connected is limited to the number of USB ports available on the computer. ClickShare Button Manager can detect 8 Buttons at once. The detected Buttons are automatically added to the list of Buttons with their serial number, status and when paired, the SSID of the Base Unit. Each line in the list corresponds with a Button. Image 2-1 Detect buttons Refresh To refresh the list, click on the refresh icon. 2.2 Unpairing Buttons About unpairing Buttons paired to a certain Base Unit can be unpaired so that they are not paired with any Base Unit. They cannot be used for sharing until they are paired with a Base Unit. How to unpair 1. Check the check box at the beginning of the line of the Buttons to unpair. Multiple selection is possible. 8 2. About Buttons Image 2-2 Unpair buttons 2. Click Unpair Selected Buttons. The unpairing starts. Progress can be followed in the Progress column. When unpairing is finished the status changes from Button ready - Paired to Button ready - Unpaired. 2.3 Pairing Buttons About pairing Before a Button can be used with a specific Base Unit, this Button must be paired to this Base Unit. The ClickShare Button Manager software allows users to pair Buttons to a Base Unit without physically connecting the Button to the Base uunit. ClickShare Button Manager can pair up to 4 Buttons at once. To pair 4 buttons at once your computer must have at least 4 USB ports. The Base Unit must also be known in ClickShare Button Manager. 9 2. About Buttons (3) Image 2-3 Pair Buttons 2. Check the check box of the Base Unit to pair to. 3. Click on Pair Selected Buttons (3). The pairing starts. When more than 4 Buttons are selected, the pairing starts with the first 4 Buttons and when finished it continues with the next group of 4 until all Buttons are paired. The status of paired Button changes from Button ready - unpaired to Button ready - paired. The Base Unit name is filled out in the Paired to Base Unit column. 2.4 Releasing Buttons About releasing When ClickShare Button Manager is running on a laptop, it immediately grabs every Button that is plugged in. A USB device can only be accessed/addressed by one application at a time. This means the client software, which usually communicates with the Button to send the shared content to the Base Unit, can no longer access the Button. Because it is already in use by ClickShare Button Manager. When someone, who is using ClickShare Button Manager on his/her laptop, wants to share content with ClickShare, they need to free up a Button to be able to share content with the Button. This is called releasing the Button. In normal circumstances where a laptop is not running ClickShare Button Manager, releasing Buttons is not necessary. How to release 1. 10 2. About Buttons Image 2-4 Release Button 2. Click on the release button. The status of Button changes from Button ready - paired to Button released. The Button can be to share content on a laptop running ClickShare Button Manager Known issues Overview 1. When pairing multiple times the same Button(s), without unplugging them the software will report pairing failed. Unplugging the Buttons and re-entering them in the computer will restore the issue. 2. When multiple Buttons are plugged into a PC, the entire PC and software can seem to freeze up to 30 seconds. This is due to the Windows enumeration process which consumes the CPU power at that time. After enumeration finishes, the PC will become responsive again. 3. When the launcher service is running in the background as admin service and the user of the software does not have admin rights, the Button Manager cannot temporarily disable the launcher service. In that case, the Button Manager might not have access to the Button USB connections and will not be able to pair the Buttons. 8 R CLICKSHARE BUTTON MANAGER 03/01/2014

ABOUT BASE UNITS 3.1 Add a Base Unit automatically Before adding Before you can add a Base Unit automatically in ClickShare Button Manager: you have to know its IP address or host name on the network it must be switched on. How to add 1. Click on the plus button in the Base Unit pane. (3) (4) (6) (5) Image 3-1 The Base Unit configuration window opens. 2. Check the checkbox before Automatically (3). 3. Click in the input field IP address/hostname and enter the IP address or the hostname of the Base Unit (4). 4. Enter the user name and password of the web interface of the Base Unit (only when different from the default user name and password) 5. Click Add (5). The configuration file of the connected Base Unit is downloaded and the Base Unit is added in the list (6). R CLICKSHARE BUTTON MANAGER 03/01/2014 9

About Base Units 3.2 Add a Base Unit manually Before adding Before a Base Unit can be added to ClickShare Button Manager the configuration file of this Base Unit must be available for the local computer. This configuration file can be downloaded via the Web Interface on the Base Unit. For more information, consult ClickShare s installation manual. How to add 1. Click in the input field next to ConfigFile and enter the config file path and file name (4a) and click Add. Or, click on Browse (4b) A browse window opens (5). 4. Browse to the desired configuration file (6) and click Open (7) The default file name is built up as follows: SSID.conf where SSID is the SSID name of the Base Unit. 13 3. About Base Units 6. The Base Unit is added to the Base Unit pane (10). 3.3 RemoveaBaseUnit How to remove 1. Check the check box in front of the Base Unit you want to remove from the list. The selected Base Unit is removed from the list. 3.4 Manage firmware versions About manage firmware ClickShare Button Manager can list the available firmware version of the connected Base Units on the network or stored locally in ClickShare Button Manager. Extra firmware versions can be manually uploaded in ClickShare Button Manager. If an upgrade of a Base Unit s firmware has taken place, a link between the firmware version and the Base Unit must be made in ClickShare Button Manager so that the pairing of the buttons to this Base unit is correct. If the link is not correct, Buttons will be paired with the wrong firmware version and sharing content correctly is not guaranteed. How to manage 1. 14 3. About Base Units (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) Image 3-4 Manage firmware 2. Click on the Manage firmware icon. The Manage firmware window opens (3). An overview of the known firmware versions is given. These versions are collected locally and on the network. 3. Select the firmwareversionusedontheselected Base Units (4). 4. Click Next (5). An overview window is given with the request to update your Base Unit and Buttons with the new firmware (6). 5. When your Base Units are updated, click Finish (7). The new software version is associated with the Base Unit and ClickShare Button Manager can now repair the buttons to this Base Unit. Upload firmware manually 1. Select one or more Base Units by checking the checkbox at the beginning of the row. 12 R CLICKSHARE BUTTON MANAGER 03/01/2014

Browse to the desired package file (4) and click Open (6). The selected package is extracted and added to the overview list. This version is now available to be linked to the selected Base Unit.
