Thanks to functions such as independently programmable switching points, integrated temperature measurement, and the use of a wide range of materials, a number of different applications can be covered with just one type. Through the use of the standard stainless steel pipe, the level sensor with rotatable head can be used almost universally in a variety of different media. For applications with less aggressive media, the non-rotatable head with plastic pipe may be a more cost effective solution. Page 1 of 9

2 Variants This level sensor is available in three versions. The base version has a simple plain cover. Intermediate versions have a head fitted with push button and LED as options. With this version higher current and voltage signal outputs are possible. The third and most complex version offers the option of an additional LCD display which allows both the level and temperature of the medium to be displayed simultaneously. The version with rotatable head can be rotated 360 and thereby enables more flexible installation in situations with limited space. Fill level measurement with reed technology The quasi-analogue fill level sensors are based on a measurement procedure with a reed resistor chain that is actuated by a magnet located in a float. As the fill level rises or falls, the resistance value changes. A nearly analogue output signal can then be read from the sensor. The individual contacts are spaced from 5 mm to 35 mm here (5 mm increments; circuit diagram III on page 8). The solution for stable environmental conditions with bistable reed contacts is an economical alternative allowing variable spacings between reeds. (circuit diagram IV on page 8). Here, a symmetrical spacing is not required; it is only necessary to maintain a minimum distance of 25 mm between the switching points. The individual switching contacts can, of course, also be fed out separately. The maximum number of switching points is limited to 20 individual contacts. These can be implemented as N.O., N.C. or changeover contacts (with common potential). With the new generation of heads with integrated electronics, an analogue current/voltage signal is also available on the output side (circuit diagram V on page 8). Page 2 of 9
