Would you take another short 8-week course in the future? Answered: 69 Skipped: 7 Please provide a short explanation of your answer. Note: Comments about specific instructors have been deleted from this table. is more convenient Too much information and too hard assignments for 8 weeks I like the latitude an online course offers. With a work schedule such as mine, an online course is a beneficial. I feel I learned a lot in the short time we had. It was a little stressful to get all the work done, but worth it. They made classes fix with my busy schedule and it's easier for me to learn from them because i'm not trapped inside a classroom. 8 Week classes are very tough, but in this short span of time you learn so much. I've learned in full detail how democracy works in 8 weeks than I ever did during high school I enjoyed this class. It went by so fast. Although the process is quick the learning is day after day which helps keep the material fresh. It is a good way to get additional credits quickly. I enjoy getting through a general education requirement class quicker. As a 101 class, the course requirement and demands are crazy. I understand it is an 8 week course, but what I am required to do far exceeds what a 8 week course would look like or even a full semester course. The workload seems a little out of hand, for a 101 class and I don't think it facilitates learning or learning more about the class. The short 8-week courses are packed with information. I enjoyed the weekly assignments and deep thinking these courses required. It's fast paced but I enjoy it. I would but not online. Online courses are not for me. yes with a better professor that is willing to do their jobs is more "savy" with working online. The short course format provides a quick way to complete classes that I'm not particularly interested in and want to get over with. I am currently enrolled in Sociology 001 I am taking one right now. I though that the course was well organized and Professor Rosario was willing to help out with any questions. I would love to take another 8 week course. I liked the challenge this course provided. No need to make it any harder, it's good.

Please provide a short explanation of your answer. Note: Comments about specific instructors have been deleted from this table. I think it would be easier to just attend an actual class. I felt that the group projects and computer tools we had to use complicated the course in an unnecessary way. I may try another online class again, but I now know that it could be a lot more work than just going to a campus class for a semester. Even though it was a short course and flew by fast, I feel like it allows the opportunity for students to either catch up on required courses or speed up the transfer/graduationg process good class to take. i like online class I would defiantly consider taking another 8-week course again in the near future. I felt as this classes helped with my busy schedule, having specific due dates for tasks helped me set specific days for specific assignments. I would take another 8 week course, I have taken a 6 week course in the past; but it was too fast pace, this class still provides flexibility to take additional courses. I would probably try to focus on two 8-week courses alone, rather than one and two 16-week courses with it. The speed of this course was fast enough that I would not get bored, but not so fast that it would be overwhelming. I enjoyed the ease of online course taking that I would like to take more The faster learning environment is harder. I feel like I cold handle it and enjoy the rest of the 8 weeks. it is convenient and the knowledge is not compromised I would like to take another 8-weep course because I felt that it fit perfectly into my schedule and I also enjoyed the learning experience. It would enable me to transfer faster I enjoyed this class, I only wish I had more time to put into it. I did find it accommodating to my current circumstance. For this course, I think that the subject and material was too complex and large for a class that is only 8 weeks long. Yes, because it is short and convenient The pressure of getting assignments done at a certain time forced me to manage my time and that has helped me with my other courses this semester. it gets work done quicker It helps me complete the required course at a faster past. I have done well in short-term online classes and would not mind doing it again. They provide the same amount of material compared to 16-week courses, which is great. I have taken 6 week and 8 week online courses in the past, and they have been enjoyable. as was this one. I find it very accommodating to my schedule. It helps me a lot with my personal life. I enjoy taking them very much. I believe it challenges you but also helps you sharpen your time management and procrastination. This course has helped me in those two areas very much and feel that it will help me with my other courses as well as my work life. It was a great learning experience, but the course was very rigorous (in a good way). There is no more shot 8-week class that I need to take in the future, I'm planning to transfer. It was quite the experience and I wouldn't mind doing another online class. I won't be rushing to take another online course though. I enjoy taking short classes. I like how i am able to complete a semester's equivalent of work in a shorter amount of time. I also feel like I am getting much more done in a shorter amount of time.

Please provide a short explanation of your answer. Note: Comments about specific instructors have been deleted from this table. I enjoyed the fact that I could complete a course in the short time span of only 8 weeks, and in the comfort of my home. I would take another short course because I am able to finish faster and learn more. I am taking 3 more this semester. I was able to learn in depth about the subjects knowing that only I can benefit from doing so. With this mentality, it was easy to focus and devote myself to the assignments. I really enjoy these classes, the reason being is that these types of classes make you come out of your comfort zone and engage in conversations with random people which enables you to improve on your social skills. It was a great supplement to the units I'm taking in person. I wanted a full course load, but adding another three units of on campus classes would've required two extra days of travel to and from campus. Or I would've been on campus from 8 am-8 pm Monday and Wednesday. I'm very grateful for the flexibility. Though time was very limited for every assignment, I enjoy learning at a fast paste. I find it easier to score better grades when a course is short, simply because the material is still fresh when a test/quiz comes around. You are able to get the same teaching experience that you would get in a classroom. It is a little difficult when it comes to project but if you have a professor that is answering any questions you have that will make it much easier. It was nice Please add any feedback or comments you may have about your online course experience. Answered: 45 Skipped: 31 Responses. Note: Comments about specific instructors have been deleted from this table. I was accused of plagiarism, and I did not like it. The assignments were hard and due too soon The professor required Chicago citation. Most of my citations were from websites. The OWL-Perdue site states that when citing a website, "Date accessed" is a required part of the citation. There were numerous times that I was docked points by the professor stating that I used "date accessed" too often. I still don't understand what I did incorrectly to be docked when the professor stated that OWL-Perdue was the sample site for how to properly cite in the Chicago format. I did the citations as demonstrated on the OWL-Perdue site. I think the professor should have been more definitive in his instructions or clarify how I was citing incorrectly. In an online class, most sources are going to be online sources (websites). If the professor wanted hardcopy sources, I believe that should have been stated in the instructions. Our professor was very involved (Professor Starkey) and I wish he taught other online classes I need. Online courses help your critical thinking a lot This online course was very interesting and I'm very glad I took this course. Great professor who cared about material. He had previous experience in politics. Really good text. It was very current and referenced current events like Proposition 8 and Arizona's anti-immigrant legislation. Also, really good short videos were sent during the week that weren't required viewing for grades but were good, current and very helpful for understanding the material. I was hoping to be tested on the textbook material more. This way I could know wether or not I was absorbing more details.

Responses. Note: Comments about specific instructors have been deleted from this table. Hate it. The professor cares more about docking points on citations and not meeting word limit. For example in a summary homework worth 20 points, he required a minimum of 250 words, I had 247 and I was docked 7.5 points. This is a little ridiculous and out of hand, the professor also constantly dock points for wrong citations, I understand that it is not what is require but the help page he posts, does not even open it constantly shows a 404 error and does not help in me improving. He also takes 1point for every wrong citation, if i had 10 citations he would have docked 10 points or if I had 20 he probably would dock 20 points. I thought I am taking a class on a subject, not a citations class. I think that some professors need to focus on the subject. Online courses are great. I truly enjoy them because I'm able to work at my pace and whatever time I'd like as long as it's before the due date. Online classes have also made me more independent. teacher was very good and diligent. I appreciated all the reminders to submit work and I had a good idea of what I need to accomplish. The only issue I had was all the weekly discussion posts. I felt they were busy work and I did not get much out of them. I liked the timed essays and thought the instructor did a good job of selecting topics. I also really liked all the videos he sent out helping us learn more. Very good instructor providing resources to help me be successful. Good class and learned good information. Lecture videos were horrible and almost impossible to watch. Needs to be more interesting and interactive with the professor. Interaction between students was good. Professor this semester was not willing to help with Pearson's online work. Just getting registered was extremely difficult and the professor was not willing to help. She posted videos on how to register that were irrelevant because we were going through canvas. When I ed her for additional help she told me that she is not technically "savy" nor is that her job. Maybe find teachers that are more "savy" to properly help students over online work. I had a bad experience working in groups for Geography 1. One partner did not do his part of a project and I received no credit. Plus, I wasn't informed my partner did not turn in their part of the project. Helpful instructor, online course group work is the bane of my educational existence, assignments were hit and miss. There are numerous misspellings and typographical errors in the SoftChalk lessons. I found it distracting and disquieting. It would be nice to know that someone in charge cared enough to check for these things and to make sure that the course materials reflect the same standards to which we students are both held and aspire to. History was hard and did not really know the expectations of the professor. For my first online course I am very pleased with my outcome. I thought that I could not work from home but this course really teaches you discipline and study skills. Thanks for the opportunity. Sincerely, Andres Antongiorgi It was enjoyable and more classes should be offered online for the convenience of other students. Please add more 8-week online classes. I enjoyed the class but I do miss the face-to-face interaction, not sure that I will take another solely online course. The discussions with other students was helpful, but I feel that it might be useful to have a set times for people to be online and use the live chat option to talk to each other in real time instead of having to post messages back and forth. It was great. I enjoyed the module set-up my professor had because it required students to view every document and complete assignments once we were done seeing what was in store for the week. No comment I would suggest more classes be offered this way, if not half online and half in class. Course content in 8 weeks was overwhelming. I just feel that I could have learned more in a 16 week course. There were too many projects in a space of one week, for me to benefit from a working parent. This class needs to be a 16 week online course. I had a great time in this class mostly because the teacher was so understanding and welcoming I really appreciated the quick responses I got from both the students and teachers None

Responses. Note: Comments about specific instructors have been deleted from this table. The modules and its content was very clear and related to each weeks chapters. My instructor was very helpful and answered any questions or concerns I had. So, thank you!! Also, I am glad that I was able to add on reflections to my eportfolio. I find the eportfolio a perfect tool to display my work. I really enjoyed the course because it helped me better my learning/studying techniques. Also helped me teach myself better on the course outside of the classroom, a lot of discipline on being on top of your work each week/day. My instructor was extremely helpful and friendly. Her personality showed even through online interactions. Definitely a model of how an online instructor should be. For Phil 25 online class that I take this semester, the homework assignment help me develop my writing skill. Also, the group assignment help me to discuss with other classmates. Since it's only 8 weeks class, but still can learn something from this class. I really liked all the assignments the assignments I was given. They were fun but still helped me grow in my knowledge a lot. It was a good class for me. Class was good, positive experience. Learned a lot in my short time. There was a good amount of communication with the professor. She answered any questions or clarifications in a timely manner. Overall, I found the course to be stimulating and I learned the basics of Philosophy. I would recommend other students to take this course! Getting back feedback or grades on my submissions would have been more beneficial to my learning if we received them faster. I loved the course, the only thing I would say that coukd be improved is the team projects. I feel it was very confusing to collaborate online in such a s all time frame because not everyone is able to communicate at the same time. My grade has suffered because my teammates did not do their share and that should not affect my grade when I have done everything required from me. Onlie classes opens a new world for working moms and families. Being to learn from home is a great opportunity for people to advance there education with the ability of your home. The supplemental videos, especially those from Kahn academy really helped me understand some of the more complex material. They also provided a very welcome break from seemingly endless reading on my laptop screen. One difficulty I encountered was coming up with ideas for the projects. I would suggest either adding more examples of what's expected, or maybe adding a discussion post prompt where students brainstorm ideas and technologies for their projects. If I was not experienced with computers, I would've struggled more with some of the projects. Great job! It thought me alot of things My professor was great. She provided feedback and responded promptly.
