5 About Eclipse Point of Sale The Eclipse Point-of-Sale companion product allows you to use your point of sale device for counter transactions. This document walks you through one-time-only setup procedures, terminal maintenance information, using the cash drawer, and testing your setup. For more information about obtaining Eclipse Point of Sale, contact your Eclipse Inside Salesperson. 6 Setup Requirements for Eclipse POS Rel Setup Requirements for Eclipse POS Following are the control maintenance records and authorization keys used for Eclipse Point of Sale along with Terminal ID and cash drawer setup. Control Maintenance Records POS Receipt Message SOE Payments Open Cash Drawer Authorization Keys No authorization keys required. Terminal ID Setup If you have not already setup the Terminal ID on the workstation, follow these steps to assign the pos Terminal ID to the workstation. To set the Terminal ID in Solar: 1. From the User Control Panel menu off the main Solar Window, select Settings > Solar Preferences to display the Preferences window. 2. In the General Tab > System Preferences area, check the Terminal ID field for the terminal name and change to pos, if necessary. This field is validated and case sensitive. 3. Click OK to save your changes. To set the Terminal ID in Eterm: 1. From the Eterm main window, select Configure > Communications. 2. In the ID field, check the terminal name and change to pos, if needed. This field is case sensitive. 3. Click OK to save your changes Epicor Software Corporation. All rights reserved.

7 Rel Eclipse Point of Sale Setting Up Your Cash Drawer Eclipse supports both Ithaca and Star/Epson cash drawer machines. Use the manufacturer's instructions to plug in the machine after you have setup your receipt form and printer drivers. Cables should be labeled for attachment Epicor Software Corporation. 8 Setting Up Receipt Forms Rel Setting Up Receipt Forms You must set up a receipt form through Forms Definition to define the size and orientation of the receipt you receive when using Eclipse Point of Sale. The Forms Definition screen displays the page setup parameters selected for a paper form. In this case, you are setting up a receipt. The standard system includes forms such as PLAIN, MULTI-PURPOSE, PAYABLE.CHECK, and LABELS, and the corresponding form definitions. Most of the forms provided with the system are standard in the industry and do not need to be changed. A system administrator will need to access this program to make changes to the form definitions. Other users will only have view-only access.. Note: As of Release 9.0.2, this process requires the Eterm application. To set up a receipt form: 1. From the System > System Files > Printer Setup menu, select Forms Definition. 2. When prompted, login to the character-based system, Eterm. 3. Use the following to define your receipt parameters: Field Description Form Name The name of the form you selected. If you selected New from the forms list, enter a name for the form to define. In this procedure, type RECEIPT. Orientation Indicate if the form should be in portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) format. The default is Portrait. CPI The number of characters per inch across the page. The default is 10. Typically, this value is 10 for normal presentations and 8 for condensed presentations. LPI The number of lines per inch down the page. The default is 6. Typically, this value is 6 for a normal presentations and 8 for condensed presentations. Width The number of characters to print on the form from side to side. The default is 80 for both page orientations. Length The number of lines to print on the form from top to bottom. The default is 66 for both page orientations. Top Margin The distance between the left edge of the form and the first line of print. The default is 0 (zero). Left Margin The distance between the left edge of the form and first character in the line. The default is 0 (zero). Bypass Eclipse Forms Form Name Screen Example: Set this field to Y (yes) to Indicate that this form is not run through Eclipse Forms for printing. Use this setting for form types such as labels that do not print properly on the Zebra printer if run through Eclipse Forms Epicor Software Corporation. All rights reserved.

10 Adding Printer Drivers Rel Adding Printer Drivers Printer drivers are maintained by the manufacturer. Use the CD or download instructions provided with your receipt printer. When prompted, you will connect the printer during the installation and select the Easy Install option Epicor Software Corporation. All rights reserved.

11 Rel Eclipse Point of Sale Printing to USB Receipt Printers After configuring the printer driver, you must configure the windows machine into which the receipt printers is plugged. You must go through the following steps to set up the receipt printer: Share the Receipt Printer - This allows the rest of the network to recognize the receipt printer for printing. Create the LPT1 Command - Point the LPT1 port to the USB port where the printer is plugged in. Assign the Printer Permanently - This ensures that when users log in, they have access to the printer through the specific workstation. Step 1: Share the Receipt Printer 1. From the Start menu, select Devices and Printers. 2. Right-click on the Point of Sale printer and select Printer Properties. 3. Click the Sharing tab and select Share this Printer. 4. In lowercase type pos and click OK. Step 2: Create LPT1 Command 1. Copy the following text into notepad: NET USE LPT1: \\machinename\sharedprintername /PERSISTENT:YES 2. Change the machinename in the above statement to YOUR machine name: 2016 Epicor Software Corporation. All rights reserved. 7

12 Printing to USB Receipt Printers Rel From the Start menu, right-click on Computer and select Properties. In the Computer Name field, copy the full name and replace "machinename" in the above statement in Notepad. 3. In the statement above in Notepad, replace sharedprintername with the name you used in Step 4 above. In this instance, use pos. 4. Copy the new NET USE statement with your personalized information from Notepad. 5. From the Start menu, type cmd. 6. Run the command prompt as an administrator. 7. At the c:\ prompt, right-click and paste the NET USE command to point the LPT1 to the USB drive for the current Windows session. Step 3: Assign the Printer Permanently 1. From the Start menu, scroll to the Startup folder and click All Programs. 2. Right-click on the Startup folder, and select Explore All Users. 3. Right-click and select New > Text Document. 4. Open the new Text file. 5. Copy the NET USE command you created into the text document. 6. Save your file as "printer.bat" including the quotation marks. 7. Click Save. 13 Rel Eclipse Point of Sale Using Terminal ID Maintenance for EPOS Use Terminal Maintenance to setup your workstation for point-of-sale transactions. You can use an existing terminal ID at the workstation. However, if you are not currently using terminal IDs, you must create a new terminal ID called pos. Note: As of Release 9.0.1, the Pole Display check box is deactivated. If you have a pole point-of-sale display, use the Eterm application to activate it. To assign the new terminal ID, see Setup Requirements for Eclipse POS in this documentation. To use an existing terminal ID: 1. From the System > System Files menu, select Terminal Setup. 2. Select the terminal ID you want to set. 3. From the File menu, select Point of Sale. 4. Select the Receipt Printer check box and define the Emulation, such as Epson. 5. Select the Cash Drawer Attached check box. 6. Click OK. To create a new terminal ID for point of sale: 1. From the System > System Files menu, select Terminal Setup. 2. From the File menu, select New. 3. At the Terminal ID prompt, type pos and click OK. The new terminal is added to the list. 4. Locate the new pos terminal ID. 5. From the File menu, select Point of Sale. 6. Select the Receipt Printer check box and define the Emulation, such as Epson. 7. Select the Cash Drawer Attached check box. 8. Select the Print Pick Ticket setting required. The default is Normal. 9. Click OK Epicor Software Corporation. All rights reserved. 9

14 Testing Your Point of Sale Setup Rel Testing Your Point of Sale Setup Test to make sure all hardware functions properly with normal Eclipse processing. To test your point of sale set up: 1. From the Orders menu, select Sales Order Entry. 2. Open a sales order and change the Pick Up Now status. 3. Click the Totals tab and enter cash received. The receipt should print and the cash drawer should open when you exit from the Totals screen and the order. 4. From the System > Custom menu, select Open Cash Drawer. Note: You must be assigned the SUPERUSER authorization key or the POS.OPEN.DRAWER authorization key. 5. At the Are You Sure You Want To Open Cash Drawer (Y/N)? prompt, type Yes to open the cash drawer..
