In recent years a marker has been placed at the grave by her descendants with the inscription: SARAH A. GRIMES BRYANT BORN AUG 15, 1830 DIED Ca 1866 CHILDREN OF GEORGE R. AND SARAH G. BRYANT RALIEGH P (ARK) LORENDA R LAURA A (TEX) JAMES H JOHN D (TEX) SARAH M MARTHA J MARY E (TEX) GEORGE D (TEX) The old Bryant homeplace is located about halfway between Carthage and Pinehurst in Moore County, N.C. The Bryant house, built by James Bryant, father of George R. Braynt, in 1820, is an outstanding example of federal architecture in the region. It was lived in contituously until 1944 by Bryant families then in 1969 it was donated to tthe Moore County Historical Sciety and is now open to the public. 5

Members of the wedding party were: Lucas's parents, Lawrence Maulden Yancey II, and her two sisters, Fannie Yancey and Sallie Yancey; James Henry's brother John Dobson Bryant and sisters, Lurinda Bryant and Mary E. Bryant. It does not say, but perhaps James Henry's father, George R. Bryant, also attended his son's wedding. Both James Henry and Lucas Elizabeth were members of the Courtland Baptist Church, and their older children would later attend the Courtland School, District Eight, in Cass County Texas. 9
