6 4 Navitas North America University pathway guide 2015/16 Navitas USA pathways Navitas USA offers a University/Undergraduate Pathway Program (UPP) at its six universities and a Pre-Master s Program (PMP) at UMass Boston, Dartmouth and Lowell. Western Kentucky University and Florida Atlantic University*. The UPP and PMP are both designed to prepare international students for university studies in the United States. UPP The UPP offered by Navitas is equivalent to the first year of a bachelor s degree. The UPP consists of for-credit courses and provides an academic and cultural bridge from your high school experience to studying for a university degree in the United States. Upon successful completion of the UPP, you will move directly into the second year of your chosen degree. PMP The PMP prepares students for graduate degree courses and programs. The PMP is a one or two-semester program designed for students who have completed a bachelor s degree, but need additional academic and/ or English support to gain entry to a master s program. Scanned copies of bank statements and declaration of finances form are accepted. Official TOEFL scorecard is required (TOEFL must be sent directly from ETS school code 3924). Navitas at UMass Dartmouth: Hard copy notarized Academic Transcripts, official TOEFL scorecard (TOEFL must be sent directly from ETS school code 3786), IELTS can be verified online. Original bank statements are also required. Navitas at UMass Lowell: Can accept scanned notarized copies of academic transcripts and English scorecards. Require original bank statements. Navitas at UNH: For I-20 processing can accept copies of all documents sent by . However, the original bank statements and the original transcripts are required before an I-20 can be sent out from UNH. Navitas at WKU: Can accept scanned notarized copies of all documentation. If you accept scanned copies do students need to bring officials/ originals when they arrive? Navitas at FAU: Students are required to supply official/certified academic transcripts, official English scorecards and original bank statements on arrival. Navitas at UMass Boston: Can accept scanned copies, except for TOEFL English scorecards and academic transcripts, which they do not need to supply on arrival unless they had not graduated at the time of applying to the program. Navitas at UMass Dartmouth: Cannot accept scanned copies for I-20 processing. Navitas at UMass Lowell: Students are required to provide official academic transcripts and English scorecard upon arrival. Navitas at UNH: Students are required to provide official or certified copies of academic transcripts. Navitas at WKU: Students are required to provide original or certified copies of academic transcripts, English scorecards and bank statements upon arrival. 8 6 Navitas North America University pathway guide 2015/16 Navitas Canada pathways Navitas Canada provides a wide range of pathway programs at ICM and FIC which are equivalent to the first year of a university degree. A Canadian degree will help you to achieve your career objectives and fulfil your personal aspirations! UTP Stage I This program is designed for students who require additional academic courses before starting a full university degree equivalent program. Entry into UTP is dependent on successful completion of Year 11 or equivalent. UTP Stage II This program is equivalent to the first year of a university degree program. Entry into UTP II is dependent upon successful completion of UTP I or satisfactory completion of Year 12 or equivalent. Entry into second year of your university degree is dependent on successful completion of 10 courses equal to 30 credit hours with a stipulated Grade Point Average (GPA). Pre-MBA (FIC only) This is a one semester program designed to prepare students for the full time MBA at Simon Fraser University. Applicants must have a bachelor degree, work experience and complete a successful interview with the Beedie School of Business. 9 7 Canada admissions and visa process OVERVIEW Application to Offer hours Complete online application and attached transcripts and copy of passport photo page. Offer to Acceptance Representative will receive the Letter of Offer after which the student needs to: 1. sign the Acceptance of Offer form and return it to icmanitoba.ca (ICM) or (FIC) 2. pay the tuition deposit indicated on their Letter of Offer. Applications for university residence or homestay should be made once the student decides to accept their offer. Acceptance to Visa 24 hours Once payment is made, representative will be sent Letter of Acceptance, Receipt and revised Letter of Offer. All three documents should be submitted for visa application. For details on how to apply for a study visa, go to cic.gc.ca/english/study Enrolment Three weeks before orientation students should enrol in their classes online. They will be sent detailed instructions on how to do this. Airport pick-up is available for an additional charge. The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, opened in Fall 2011, has established relationships with several prominent area hospitals. Home to the Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center, a federally funded research facility developing technology to harness the power of Florida s ocean currents. College of Engineering s Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) racing team ranked 8th in the acceleration test among more than 100 participants at the 2013 Formula SAE, at the Michigan International Speedway. Business & Finance The Department of Finance program is ranked 35th in the world, (based on published research in 16 core financial journals, 2nd in the nation for published research in financial education). The Barry Kaye College of Business Entrepreneurship Program was included in the top 50 in the country by Success Magazine. FAU s College of Business is among the elite business schools worldwide with Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation, the highest worldwide standard of achievement for business schools. The College of Business executive M.B.A. program was recognized by Bloomberg Businessweek s Best Business Schools of 2013 report. 13 11 NAVITAS AT FAU English Students can be exempt from submission of English proficiency test for undergraduate degree if they completed at least one year at school where the language of instruction is English or completed school with an American, Canadian or British International curriculum. UPP Integrated (UPP Standard with Pathway English) If students English test scores meet the requirements for UPP Integrated they may begin the Undergraduate Pathway Program with the addition of Academic English in the first semester of study. Navitas at FAU can accept green card holders and U.S. citizens.
