9 Admissions Checklist for International Students Application Checklist Fill out and submit a completed application (it is free to apply). You can apply through one of the following options: Common Application (commonapp.org) Newbury Application (newbury.edu) A writing sample. Please submit a paper you have written within the past year. It should be a minimum of 250 words and can be on any subject. Some examples are an English composition, a history thesis, a psychology report or a literary critique. Newbury College will accept the Common Application essay in place of a graded writing sample. 2 letters of recommendation (from a counselor or teacher) Transcript(s) TOEFL or IELTS scores. A minimum TOEFL score of 71 (internet); 197 (computer); or a (paper) is required. A 5.5 band score is required on the IELTS. SAT/ACT optional AP/IB scores if available Enrollment Checklist Enrollment deposit $1,000 (if living in the residence halls) or $500 (if living off campus) Note: All first year international students are guaranteed oncampus housing if desired.
