CO 2 emissions are between 79 g/km and 105 g/km in energy efficiency classes A+ to C. Reduction of fuel consumption through Use of hot-stamped and ultra high-strength steels (higher strength means less material is needed) Weight-optimised chassis, powertrain and equipment components (e.g., newly developed ventilated drum brakes, laser-welded seat frames, vehicle electrical system) Tyres with optimised rolling resistance (standard equipment) Heat-insulated glass (less heat in interior means lower energy requirements, e.g. for air conditioning) Enhanced aerodynamics, e.g. with a Cd-optimised front end and optimised airflow through the wheel arches eco up! energy-efficient 50 kw (68 PS) Thanks to standard BlueMotion Technology (in cluding a start-stop system and regenerative braking), the new eco-up! with its newly developed 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine (50 kw/68 PS), which is both economical and dynamic, only uses an average of 2.9 kg of natural gas per 100 km, with CO 2 emissions of 79 g/km. The environmental ratings list published by the the German Association for Transport and the Environment (VCD) at the end of August shows the popular Volkswagen model as the overall winner in 2012 and 2013/2014 ( auto-umweltliste.html). Resource conservation through Lifetime oil fill for gearbox Maintenance-free timing gear Low cylinder deformation, reducing oil consumption Eco-friendly materials Use of renewable raw materials and recycled materials: around 7.4 kilograms of renewable raw materials go into the new up! These include a composite of non-woven cotton fleece and foam flakes used as insulation material and matting, as well as paper in air and oil filters and in the fuel pump. An analysis of the share of recycled materials shows that some components consist almost entirely of secondary raw materials. This applies to both metal and non-metal materials. In total, recycled materials make up more than one-third of the vehicle. 2
